I find it curious: what makes one game stand the test of time while others don't? I think it's impossible to answer.One thing I've noticed from my own experience making little games with RPG Maker and Ren'py is that authentic characters tend to resonate much more with the audience.This is a huge problem that corporate products face, because they're always walking on eggshells, and a character who says something like, "Get lost, I don't like faggots!" or something like that is completely off-limits unless it's all carefully crafted to denounce homophobia or something similar... and even then, it backfires because people simply love authentic characters.
