I used to think that secession was retarded. Then I read the 4th era timeline on the wiki and came around to the idea of an independent Skyrim. The Empire has neither the power nor legitimacy it pretends to have and they'd toss Skyrim to the wolves just as readily as they did Hammerfell.Sadly there's no option to shout Ulfric into pieces in "honorable combat" like he did to Torygg and take his place.
