If the core game was Xenoblade/FFXIV-lite combat and the AIC actively played into exploration, like a Minecraft with Death Stranding elements, it would easily be the best game on the market, even with the subpar story. The problem is that making a post-Genshin gacha game comes with a mental checklist, so we need gatherings, upgrading, grinding, action combat, recycling, management, gardening, affectioning, and so on. The game is trying to be a AAA game with the design principles of a Japanese auteur game, but it’s also adhering to gacha conventions to maximise the world and play time.
