It's by far the best ARPG Team Ninja's made and I really enjoyed the story and music and visual design despite barely caring about FF at all. It's just that good. It's one of my fav souls likes, maybe top 3, but I can't still recognize that the game looks awful, runs worse than UE5 games, is barely even trying with the FF related stuff, the levels are whatever, the gameplay can be a bit spammy with the crystal break animation every minutes, on normal the regular ennemy can barely fight back Jack is just too fast, build making is a pain..Overall way too many issue but as usual with Team Ninja the combat alone saves it and this time they got a kino protag. What I really appreciate about the combat is that it's foundation is open ended. Blocking, dodging, parry, soul shield, MP generation, how each weapon plays, etc. The foundation is pretty solid but importantly it's open ended, none of the mechanics in themselves are necessarily stronger than the other (other than soul shield but it's a well balanced mechanic) but then you take this open ended foundation and then add the job system on top, where specific elements shine more and encourage you to use specific mechanics. Unlike other TN ARPGs, it feels like your builds very heavily impact how you play because of how your jobs and even some of the weapons interact with the specific jobs. It gives the game a LOT of variety in how you actually play which is somewhat of an issue with other TN games. It's legitimately the BEST possible way you could adapt the RPG and Job elements of FF into an action game. I don't think there is ANYTHING they could've done better, other than maybe implementing a proper party mechanic not too far from Kingdom Hearts or FF7R
