for me it's Infiltrator
>>
>>741444793
Soldier is kinda just boring, but objectively the most combat-effective class.
Vanguard is the most fun in every game despite its flaws.
Infiltrator would be way cooler if you could do stealth melee takedowns.
Sentinel is meh.
Adept and engineer are for autistic people.
>>
>>741445419
>engineer
goated in 2 and 3
may as well be an infiltrator in 1 since they share all the meaningful powers
>>
>>741445541
>engineer
>goated in 2
Absolutely fucking not. It's amazing in 1 because of all the Geth you're fighting and any class that can combo spam in 3 has an easy go of it.
>>
>>741445761
it sucks in 1 compared to infiltrator, which has ai hacking, overload, damping, sabotage + immunity and snipers
in 2 engineer can strip every defense except barriers, meaning every mission that isn't collectors you can solo. Infiltrator edges out engineer in 2 because the dps boost from tactical cloak basically makes you able to go shotgun infiltrator and ghetto blast niggas
>>
>>741444793
why would you voluntarily chose to play a stealth archer?

ME3 multiplayer was pretty fun. Playing a Volus adept with that one mini-shotgun pistol, speccing into minimum cooldown and pairing yourself with a Geth juggernaut restoring his shields forever was pretty nice.

vanguard is the most fun, but you gotta play on the lower difficulties because playing out in the open and charging into enemies is a recipe for a game over on the higher difficulties. I liked infiltrator the most in ME1, but then the later games with their ammo drops and changing of engineer powers kind of made the class gay as fuck.

Love Infiltrator. When I first played Mass Effect I had some kind of obsession with overpowered anti-material sniper rifles. I just thought that things like the Barret were the coolest things ever created. I fucking loved the weapon customization in the first game because you could make an obscenely strong rifle that would have huge recoil and massively overheat after firing one shot but it would kill nearly everything in the game in a single shot.
I remember reading the description for the sniper you get from the Collector ship and having the 4 strength 4 stam leather belt reaction to it.
>used to outright destroy any vehicle short of a tank
>can only be used effectively by krogans because any other un-augmented humanoid will just break all their bones after firing it
ooughgh
>>
>>741448441
ME3 vanguard is pretty sweet, big fan of nova. and "playing smart" in ME2 as manguard usually means not charging into a group of enemies and booming them with a shotgun, which is the most fun way to play the class. if I want to play a cover shooter with an SMG I'll just play literally any other class

>>
>>741448221
>but you gotta play on the lower difficulties
Nah you just have to pick your charges in 2, and minimize recharge time in 3.
>>
>>741445419
The problem with Sentinel is that your companions are designed to back you up while the player's control is still entirely over Shepard, so you're basically running defense in every scenario while outsourcing offense to the companion A.I. The end result is that the game becomes a million times more difficult than it needs to be simply because you didn't pick a class with offensive capacity. It's better to pick soldier, vanguard, or even adept & then have Tali be the skill monkey.
>>
engineer is kino because it starts the trilogy as the absolute weakest and ends as the absolute strongest class in the game
>>
>>741444793
Vanguard chaaaaaarge!
>>741445419
Sentinel armor is cool though, can play both as a safe tank or get very aggressively without much risk.

>>741448793
Eh, ME1 pistols are very strong regardless, ME3 allows you to stack armor skills and guns to become a ME1 Soldier
I guess ME2 can be challenging before you unlock the Tempest and forgo the DLC Locust
>>
>>741449019
>forgo the DLC Locust
I loved ME2 but holy shit guns can't hit for shit, I tried playing sentinel without it and I couldn't hit shit.
That's why the Mattock is goat, it hits where you shoot.
>>
>>741448793
In 1 that doesn’t really matter at all, you facetank anything with infinite barrier and there isn’t any enemy in the game you can’t just kill with your gun.
In 2 and 3 you are a biotic/tech detonation machine. You shit out giant explosions all over the place on top of the giant explosions and invincibility from tech armor. The only shit part is being stuck with SMGs for awhile but eventually you just get a mattock or whatever and start blasting anyway.
>>
>>741444793
Space wizard is interesting, but Soldier fits Shepard best.
Engineer Shepard is ridiculous. Who would make an engineer a fucking super secret spectre?
>>
>>741448603
sure but that's boring. I want be a whirlwind of destruction, which normal facilitates. it's like how the uncharted games don't really deliver the fantasy of the indiana jones action sequence on the highest difficulty, I want to punch and shoot, not shoot then use the charge as an execution once I've thinned the herd.
>>
>>741448943
always
>>
>>741448916
yeah that blows ass I want charge to be an offensive button. the whole class fantasy of vanguard is built around bulldozing shit.
>>

>>741448370
Triple sniper squad is pretty effective in 2, just give thane and garrus the incisor in the early game, probably wouldn't try it on the reaper iff mission. Legion with its widow upgrades is a total beast as well.

Sentinel is really fun in 1 if you have the bonus powers unlocked, just pick a weapon talent since you already have a full hotbar of useful abilities.

Infiltrator and Engineer are the cannon Shep classes.
>biotic clas
Shep almost never uses their biotics in cutscenes. Also the squad gets filled with insanely powerful biotics with dark edgy pasts related to it that completely overshadow Shep whose biotics are a non-topic.
>soldier
Too much of a straightforward jarhead to be a good N7 operative. Shep also hacks into things a lot in gameplay so tech experience makes sense.

This is actually a really good point. Biotics are fantastic powers, so why wouldn't they come up?

Biotics is such a terrible name.
>>
infiltrator is pretty damn fun in ME1 LE since you're almost always at a range where sniper is god tier with headshot damage.
Its a bit less fun in ME2 when it compresses the distance of fights
>>
>>741448793
Pump Wrex's tank abilities and give him your best shotgun and you can outsource him to the middle of the field out of cover and he'll solo 90% of the game on MELE Insanity. It isn't that much of a conundrum like Garrus can in ME3 with a Typhoon and assault rifle traits.
>>
>>741445419
Sentinel got all the crap skills from biotics and techies respectively. They get massively better in 2 and 3 where they finally start to have unique skills and abilities of their own.
>>
>>741450330
The only thing holding it back in the horde mode was whether you were the host or not. Otherwise human vanguard w. pistol and all points into skill damage could easily clear gold matches no problem. The new difficulty was a little iffy.
>>
>>741448441

>>741462436
No class is hard on insanity when the mattock and geth plasma shotgun exist. Even the locust can carry you through the early game.
>>
>>741461671
There is an extremely specific moment in the Omega DLC where only an engineer Shephard can shut down the system right then and there that all other classes can't do. It's odd that they put it in, but not unwelcome.

I did Adept for my first playthough and Infiltrator for my 2nd.

1 and 3 were fine on both playthroughs, with Infiltrator being a bit more fun in 3 and about the same in 1. But holy FUCK was Infiltrator ten gorillion times better in 2 than Adept. Playing through ME2 as an Adept was painful, especially some of the DLC sections. There's that solo DLC mission, I would run out of ammo, and would have to spam that gravity detonate combo on dudes to do 5% of their shields, because as long as they had shields they were outright immune to every other ability.

That said, yoinking enemies off cliffs was fun, especially once you learned out to curve your projectiles to throw enemies at perpendicular angles.

These classes made sense for ME1 but ME2 became an entire different genre and they changed how biotics work only to change the combat formula again for ME3.

Mass Effect and Dragon Age will be studied for decades on how Bioware fumbled two major IPs.

I think this may be perfect thread to ask.

>>
>>741444793
Next Mass Effect (if it manages to release at all) better take into account what class the protag is for at least some of the cutscenes. No having an Adept pull an Avenger out of their ass to bang on a class window instead of using their biotic powers.

Soldier in ME1
Shepard is supposed to be the best
Vanguard in ME2&3
Cerberus lied about making no changes to him
Tali and Garrus would be the only ones to notice the change
Tali was bullied by Miranda, called a dirty suit rat then promised Shepard would fuck her raw because new Super Shepard wouldnt make her sick
Tali going along with not tell Shepard the truth makes her guilty masturbate over being a bad girl
Miranda just threatened to tell the Turians about Garrus activity as Archangel and it would destroy his reputation.

Quite a few anons dislike the lighting revamp, and for a good reason. IIRC, the ME3 heavy melee is also gone in Legendary for some reason. The rest remained the same, for better or for worse. Fortunately, you've got mods for all of that if you're on PC. Oh, there's also no multiplayer, but I never played it in the first place

Engineer is a shit class, I really wanted to like it since using technology to spawn turrets, drones and freeze people sound great but:
>turrets suck dick, require aiming to drop them and constantly chooses targets in cover
>drone dies in seconds and even if you spec into its kamikaze upgrade for the stagger it's damage sucks

>>741448560
Once the frontlines settle after engaging you can safely charge flanks for the most part

>>741482208
I played Engineer as a crowd control sniper, i.e you spam Explosive Drones and Flamethrower Turrets from afar to preoccupy the enemy while taking potshots at them. I remember reading about an overpowered Engineer build somewhere that goes all out on power combos, so you might try that out once.

>turrets are great, damages enemies, primes tech combos, and staggers

>AI hacking is amazing against Cerberus, taking their sentry turrets and atlas mechs, making the tougher early game easy
>constant tech explosions ever 2-3 seconds as you annihilate armor with incinerate/cryoblast (chilled enemies are debuffed) and shields/barriers with overload
All in all you can split aggro 5-6 different ways counting up all the drones, Shep, and the squad. Even more if you bring Tali.
