i can't get over my anxiety about drawing, i'm doing an art course for anatomy and i struggle to even do the homeworks because i keep worrying about how once i finish the course, what if im not any better and it was just a waste of time?

To the drawfags ITTHow do you guys deal with perfectionism?I'm not a good artist by any means, but it takes literal days for me to finish any drawing because I keep going back and fixing things. If I don't correct mistakes I notice too, I lose motivation to finish the drawing, just writing it off as shit.How the fuck do I get over this retarded shit that I do?? It doesn't matter if there's unrefined lines or spots. What most people look at is the overall delivery, not detail nitpicks.Practice looser drawing and work on your efficency over polishing one pic.

To me, meticulously picking apart a piece gets boring and settling for good enough keeps the drive going. If I can't even get anything satisfactory, the drawing gets dropped entirely and work on something else, whether that's another drawing or researching whats giving me trouble (Its good to reflect on your struggles). As a constant check, I think to myself "Is this fun?" and if the answer is no, I push through until giving in. Also, this is very obvious, but the more you draw and study, the quicker you'll be able to resolve problems so there is a 'just draw' element to it. Pieces that took me a while were due to not knowing how to fix what looked off i.e. a knowledge/execution flaw. Of course, this still occurs but becoming more studied alleviates the problem. Sorry if this comes across a rambly but, regardless, wishing you the best on your artistic efforts. As always, keep trying.
