wait wtf a new killzone game came out in 2023? how come i never seen a thread about it?
Isn't liberation the name of the PSP game?
>>741454757>>741455142yes
They released the port to ps4/ps5 in 2023
>>741454757I don't give a fuck anymore. Sony would only butcher this series if they brought it back. We'd be forced to play as a "badass" fem protagonist around the age of 42. No there would be no male protagonist to play as and yes I know that the first shitty game that nobody played had a playable female character.
>>741455369My man, it's Killzone, it was never a great series from the start. The first game is notoriously shit. I would know, I bought it when it came out because I fell for the "halo killer" hype and had a PS2. Killzone 2 was better obviously, it's a decent game, CoD like campaign, looked pretty for its time and the multiplayer was fun. 3 I can hardly remember anything about, I don't think I ever played its multiplayer but the campaign I remember hardly anything about.I never played Shadow Fall even though I own it on disc for my PS4, just never got around to it and forgot it existed over time.
>>741455369Speaking of the first game>One character is a defecting Helghast>Doesn't have the stuff that makes Helghast cool.
>>741455507>it was never a great series from the start.I actually agree with you. I did however like KZ2 a lot but Sony, or maybe it was mostly Guerilla's fault, they never knew what to do with this series. So it never really found its footing.>>741455573The whole series is just a mismanaged mess that never truly formed a solid identity. So despite the second game being quite fun for what it was there is no point to this series. Its not like the story to KZ2 was some master class in storytelling either but I did enjoy its solid gameplay mechanics and multiplayer. The third game was a decline from the second although it was still pretty good. Then the series just went off the rails entirely with Shadow Fall. Its wild to think this was Sony's best attempt to make a competitor against Halo and COD.
>>741455573>>741455794Did you guys even play the game? That's literally the point of his entire character. He's "half-human" and it's a common theme in the franchise that half-humans aren't loyal to the helghast.
>>741455794It's really amazing that they had something going on with the Helghast being front faced as villains when a deeper dive shows that they have a reason for why they are doing it (If that reason is justifiable is up to the player). I feel like a smarter sci-fi writer could make a more compelling story from that, and because of the unique aspects of both the ISA and Helghast, there could be fun gameplay mechanics as we play with future tech.If anything, this series is carried by aesthetics.
The Helghast did nothing wrong
>>741455794It is strange, it's just a pretty forgettable franchise. 2 was the peak, and then 3 just came and went without much fanfare, and shadow fall seems to have been just a tech demo for the PS4 and didn't get much love either. 2 is clearly the best game though, the campaign was fun and had a lot of cool setpieces and whatnot. Liberation was good too, man I miss the PSP.
>>741455989Oh I am not complaining about Gregor being not loyal to the Helghast, that's not my point. My point was more that he could've inherited some of the aesthetics of the Helghast a bit more because he does look boring (He is better than the other ISA troops at the very least).
Mercenary on the Vita is fun
>>741455142Yes. I think this is just the PSP version ported to PS4-5 for whatever weird reason.>>741455321Ah, there it is.It wasn't too bad a game for the PSP, but I'm not sure how an isomatric low-res game would look/work on the PS4/5.
>>741456004Killzone is just Sci-fi WW2. Right down to the space nazis (Helghast) with Hugo Boss outfits. The reason Sony and Guriella couldn't do much with it is because players sided with the cooler Hugo Boss looking "enemies" without making the scrappy "Alliance" have cool outfits or guns.
>>741457391To be fair, the Hugo Boss look is aesthetic as fuck no matter your thoughts on the people wearing it.
>>741454757it's the psp game with trophies
>>741455369you infer you hate women and yet you can't help but bring it up at complete random with zero provocation
Which one had the better intro: 1 or 2?
>>741456004>this series is carried by aesthetics.Yeah this is the truth. It was hard carried on looks although the sound quality was quite nice as well. Without the look of the games it would probably largely have been brushed off as completely mediocre. Also the fact they refused to let people play as Helghast really says it all. They were popular. Stormtroopers and Sith from Star Wars are popular. Kids wanted to play as the empire. Yet Guerilla never lets you play as the cool gas mask "villains" outside of multiplayer.
>>741460092I think having a "No Russian" (well not exactly that) level would've been fine. But Guerilla was (rightly) uncomfortable with people siding with the VILLIANS. But: That's Guerilla's writers problem. You can't go:>These people are being fucked by the "UN">So they rebel/invade UN space to fight back on the oppressionWith the "invaders" having cooler outfits and expect people to not side with the invaders.
Loved liberation on the pspUnfortunately never ran well on emulator for me
>>741460362There is a way to write it that they are justifiably angry but their actions against the innocent population is unjustifiable. That is an angle that could be explored and you get to have your cake and eat it too of "unjustifiable villains with a justifiable backstory".The intro of 1 kinda shows that with the Helghast killing random civvies, but it's never really explore too well.
I was late to the party with PS3 but found KZ2s campaign to be fucking awful to play. Multiplayer I really liked though. KZ3 came out, had similarly shit single player, multiplayer had just turned into COD after MWs success. Fucking shit. Just read the wiki it's more interesting.
>half second input lag>lol thats intentional to make the guns feel heavier :)
>>7414577161's intro speech actually helped me get an A for an english monologue assignment. I studied how Visari spoke and used that to base the cadence of my monologue.
