How do I get to like platformers? Even though I played many of them I ended up realizing that I've only been playing them because I was told that they are some of the best games ever but never really enjoyed them.And I started early.SMB and Ninja Gaiden on the NES (may be the reason why I dislike them). I also played Mega Man 5-6. And Kid Icarus and Gargoyle's quest on the Game Boy.My favorite game in the genre is Super Mario World on the SNES. It's one of the easiest ones, so that might be one reason. Also Mega Man X and X-2. A friend of mine had a massive boner for Mega Man and made me play them, and it was an... okay experience.Another friend of mine was a gigantic furfaggot and had an unhealthy level of obsession with SANIC to the point that he documented games with their levels, story, his fanarts and so on. So I ended up playing Sega Genesis Sonic games too.After high school once these people were out of my life, I never really willingly played another platformer. That's when I realized that maybe I never really liked them. But I kinda want to. There are so many good games in the genre, and I never even played the Metroid games. And I even get kinda nostialgic for them, but after playing a level or two of SMW or Sonic, I just stop playing them. I don't have the patience to practice them, and once I start using save states the magic is gone.Thanks for reading my blogpost.

Contrary to what people post sometimes, there's no definitive list of what everyone 'should' play, so just play what seems interesting to you. If it's going to grab you, it will.

Games like Darkstalkers and Kingdom Hearts come to mind since their worlds are so imaginative that you want to explore them.And this image bothers me. Bubsy and Sly never sold well. They died for a reason, their sales weren't strong enough to continue getting sequels in an industry where budgets keep increasing with each new console.
