Final Fantasy is a very old franchise that's having a very hard time staying relevant with new entries. Dragon Quest plays it safe, and scrapping Flames of Fate for Beyond Dreams just proves that. Fire Emblem has remodeled itself after Awakening, and now after Three Houses, which was sort of the peak of its popularity. Shin Megami Tensei V is fairly old. Persona hasn't had a chronologically progressive story in ten years. And that's not getting into smaller ones like Atelier, Tales of, Ys, and so on.So Xenoblade is something brand new, with a cool premise, interesting stories and twists, memorable characters, fun settings, and engaging gameplay. Genesis looks like high fantasy with elves, but seems to take place in either a ring world or a Dyson sphere, so there's gotta be more cool bullshit to discover here.
