RE2 is literally one of the easiest and most signposted games in exietence>the game showers you in ammo and healing items>combat is incredibly simplistic and just involves tapping one button while the game perfectly autoaims >changing weapons, reloading, and healing can all be done while paused removing all tension>the progression is extremely obvious (the game even flashes/highlights where to go despite it being extremely obvious)>every area has a detailed map even for areas you haven't been and has color coded doors>the manhole in the kennel explicitly says you can move it wih a tool when interacted, the guy in the prison cell mentions it, the game makes the manhole tool sparkle and literally calls it "MANHOLE OPENER", when there was literally nowhere else to go and the manhole is already marked on the map anyways. Just one example but stuff like this is all over the game>"""puzzles""" are toddler level and involve pushing three boxes into a row, moving two bookshelfs to match an illustration right next to it, and pushing a statue into a conveniently placed square (yes, those are the hardest puzzles btw)>scenario B even reuses many of these braindead ""puzzles"" verbatim with identical solutions >there are no higher difficulties or arrange modes>even Max Rank only requires you to beat either scenario without first aid sprays (use the dozens of herbs instead), and with 0-6 saves and in 0-5.5h (each hour less allows you to use 2 more saves and vice versa) which is extremely generous and easy to achieve if you have even played the game onceRE4 and RE5 both blow this shit away in terms of challenge and complexity.
I don't care. It is still better than RE5.
>>741466078Filtered and retarded
>>741465943Your points #1 and #3 perfectly apply to RE4 as wellAlso RE4/RE5 are only more complex mechanically. Progression and puzzle wise they are also baby tier mode.
>>741466170Nigga, the time-wasters in RE2 can't even be called puzzles. There is no thought process or challenge in the slightest, a 3 year old could solve them with ease
Yes, it was a big cinematic crowd pleaser. These games did really well on PSX. And it's deserved. Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, and Resident Evil 2 are all fantastic. Its kind of funny how difficult the remake is when the original was super easy.
>>741465943>>combat is incredibly simplistic and just involves tapping one button while the game perfectly autoaimsThis was a feature you had to enable in options. It did not auto aim by default.
The original movie games are:Zelda OOTMetal Gear SolidResident Evil Final Fantasy 7
>>741466879It has extremely strong aim assist magnetism always enabled no matter what. In the USA version alone, you have to go into the options to also get the twisting contortion auto-aim where you spin around and target a specific enemy
>playing games on easy difficulty Its ok op we were all kids once too.
>>741465943movie? there are like 7 dialogue scenes in each campaign
>>741465943Kojima invented movie gamesLiterally, he started his objective with MGS1 was to make it a movie were you 'play' to the next scene
should i do it? i bought re3 when it was on sale for $5 but don't wanna play it before re2, but i was hoping maybe re2 would also go on sale for $5 at some point. i don't usually pay more than $3 for video games, so $5 was already pushing it.
>>741467835No. Don't fall for the lies. Re2 demake is an empty, boring, soulless shell of a video game. OG blows it out of the water.
>>741467539This is for normal. The game only has 2 difficulties and they're both pisseasy
So what? It's still harder than the modern slop
>>741468053The gunplay sucks, too. You can have the barrel of your shotgun shoved right down a zombie's throat and still miss because the reticle on the center of the screen didn't light up.Even if the combat was competent: the game would still suck because we already saw what could have been an amazing remake with the traditional gameplay in the first REmake on Gamecube.
>>741465943Doesnt this have tank controls? The dogshit controls is what hives it difficulty
I remeber when i got this game at 8, i could never figure out how to shoot so i kept dying on the very first screen so i never played any of it
>>741465943>RE4>gives you ammo back for killing regular enemies>a store full of unmissable items and a rocket launcher that oneshots the bosses for you>artificial difficulty system that daddies you the whole game>sequel in a horror franchise that's not scary>quick time events>challenging and complex
The important distinction is right there in your subject line, OP. It's the ORIGINAL movie game. It's not RE2's fault the whole industry learned the wrong lessons from it.
>>741472134Pro has no adaptive difficulty and ammo is scarce. Even easier difficulties are still miles easier than RE2
>>741465943oof yeah no way im reading all that
>>741471000You sound like you just have shit aim. I've never seen anyone play this game and have a shotgun focused on a zombies head and miss. Spend more time playing games than complaining about them on the internet and you might be able to hit your shots.
>>741466150He's right fagboy!
What's up with the anti-RE2 shitposting lately? What caused this?
>>741473352>re4 pro>ammo scarcity Lol. Lmao even.>>741476127Because they are contrarian faggots that got filtered by all the soul RE2 has
>>741465943Yeah, it really was a step down from the first game, which already had the ongoing flaw of it not being scary or freaky at all.
>>741465943>Movie game>As soon as the intro cutscene ends you're thrown directly into a horde of zombies with no tutorial, just get away or die and start overActual movie games would never have the brass balls to do that.
>>741465943See>>741466078>I don't care. It is still better than RE5.Op should know that re2 already filters zoomers brains. If for some reason the game would be more difficult, say having hard/extreme riddles from silent hill or god forbid the obscure riddles from tormented souls, even fewer people would play it. Was re2 cinematic? Sure, terminator 2 was a big inspiration for the devs.
>>741465943I'm sorry you're thoroughly retarded, anon.
>>741466998Happy to see that there are people with a brain left on this board
I didn't read this op or thread but most older horror games are relying on inducing panic. If you don't buy into the setting and characters and you just play around trying and failing and figuring out the combat you're intended to try to avoid and fear, most of them fall apart pretty quick.
