I actually just bought Baldur's Gate on Switch.What class should I run and companions should I take? Last time, I played Transmuter, which means I couldn't use shield and shield breaker spells, which wasn't as fun. Imoen really carried the party in the second game.

As for companions - just go with whoever seems cool to you personality-wise and whose quests you feel like doing.
