Would it have been better than Fallout 3 and New Vegas?
>>
>>741469863
Idk but it would probably be good
>>
Maybe, Wasteland 2 was.
>>
3 yes, NV probably not
>>
>>741469863
I wish we had gotten it before Black Isle shut down since I don't think much would have changed for Fallout as a whole even if it came out
>>
>>741469863
yes, solely by virtue of being an actual RPG and not an open world FPS
>>
>>741469863
Better than 3? Probably. Better than New Vegas? Maybe, not sure.
>>
i miss the old artstyle so much...
>>
>>741469863
It would have been a Fallout game instead of a Toddout game
>>
>>741469863
3 and new vegas are too casual for my tastes. couldn't be much worse
>>
>>741469863
Most likely, yeah.
>>
>>741469863
I seem to be in the minority here but seeing top down Fallout in a 3d art style actually looked really good here. The graphics are just kinda dated
>>
>>741469863
Maybe, it definitely had interesting concepts like the ghoul supremacists and Joshua Graham, which apparently was a powerful companion but you would have bad reputation because he hated tribals but you can help him redeem himself
>>
>>741469863
The story and writing sounds much more compelling in NV than Van Buren to be honest

retards
you guys say shit like this, but we never get a wasteland 2 thread because that game is trash.
I'm glad fallout went in the direction that it did.
isometric is pure uncslop
>>
>>741469863
No I actually think Bethesda's Fallout 3 we got was overall a blessing regardless of how shit the series is today because of them
>>
>>741470619
Wasteland 2, famously made by VB devs.
>>
>>741470619
Wasteland 2/3 aren't very much like fallout
Actually fallout clones like atom RPG and fallout 2 TC mods like Sonora are great, and they get threads sometimes (moreso on /vrpg/)

>the plot of Van Buren revolved around an escaped prisoner who would explore the American Southwest while pursued by robotic prison guards. The main antagonist was a mad scientist named Victor Presper, who planned on using the prisoner as an inadvertent vector to spread a deadly virus.
>The climax of the game would reveal that a mad scientist named Victor Presper tricked the player into capturing prisoners so that they could spread the virus as a vector. Presper would enact a nuclear holocaust on the infected population.
Sounds hilariously bad. The whole deadly virus thing sounds like a shittier rehash of what the Enclave were doing in Fallout 2. Like they just recycled the same plot from the previous game.
>>
>>741470797
Sounds cool to me, the main bad thing about it is that the villain's plan sounds too similar to previous Villains
>>
>>741469863
Frankly I think 3 and NV were the best case scenario, despite what you may think of the series now. VB was canceled and brotherhood of steel wasn't, there's no reason to believe this was going to be any good, let alone on the same level as 1 or 2
>>
>>741470797
Why go through all the trouble to infect people with a virus only to nuke them?
>>
>>741471278
The goal in the first place was to nuke everyone, infecting people with the new plague was just a way to have Odysseus activate the orbital missile base for Dr. Presper. Or at least that's what I understood from it

Yes, but it had some good ideas too so does FO:NV. I wish that they bring back the timer instead of the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam start whenever the player feels like it.

I like to see the Prisoner and the Courier being protagonists in separate campaigns running in parallel sort of like an improved version of the scrapped rival system in FO2 except neither party meets each other until the end. You could have a 2nd playthrough with the other protagonist where the choices of your previous save affect the outcome of the towns in your current playthrough.

Honestly, I'm fucking done with Fallout. Even Bethesda slop which is realistically hard to remove due to the normalcattle, there is so much problems with the system and it is showing its age. The story ended with New Vegas.

>>741471001
The TV show disproves that.
>>
>>741471819
>it had some good ideas
No, it didn't.
>>
>>741471874
Fallout 3 was a decent RPG. Just not as good as some of the other games
>>
>>741471943
>Fallout 3 was a [...] RPG
Nope
>>
>>741471943
The 3D games are awful RPGs. People like them for exploration and shooting shit while listening to the radio
>>
>>741469863
A lot of the ideas and concepts from the design documents sounded awesome but I doubt they would have actually been able to bring a lot of it to life if it came out considering the pathetic state of Interplay and Black Isle at the time
>>
>>741471819
The battle starting on it's own would mean that the player had very little to do with any pre-battle preparations. I guess that's okay to just wander and explore all sides of the conflict but choosing to start the battle means that's what you are working towards the whole game.
Still, a timer might have been okay if the wasteland was more actively dynamic to the approaching conflict.
>>
>>741469863
Fallout fans need to let go
>>
>>741471874
I was talking about FO:NV not FO3.

>>741472162
Not getting directly involved in the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam will result in a pyrrhic victory where the losing side blows up the dam.

>>741471976
This.
