>fortnite skins are effectively becoming unreal engine skins
>any ue6 game can both use your fortnite skins and create fortnite skins
>fortnite is also rapidly getting a lot of japanese games in fortnite with sonic and sora confirmed (an epic leaker got fired and is being sued lmao) and megaman potentially leaked
>if you buy sonic or sora or goku or meow skulls or raven team leader in fortnite for $12 to $15 each, you'll be able to use them in a wide variety of games
>best value in gaming
thanks creepy timmy

This is just potential.
I'm not pogging until a game I want to play that actually uses the skins comes out.

I get that, while the logic is sound (if every game shares skins and gets a bigger cut based on where the skins are bought/used most, more people will buy games/skins) im wondering about how effective they'll be at convincing other games to do it.

They did do the "if you launch on epic games store day 1, you only have to pay us 3.5% for unreal engine instead of 5%", if they do a further cut for fortnite/unreal skin sharing it might be enough.
Hopefully Marvel Rivals does it though because while the game is ehh it does have solid skins.

>>741471004
It'll fail because it's predicated on other devs letting themselves get subsumed by Fortnite when that game has been in the downtrend.

fortnite is actually still way in first place - sony released a beta psn update that shows what games have the most total weekly players and fortnite has more than GTA Online, Call of Duty, and Minecraft combined, timmy just laid off 1000 workers because he wanted to make number go up lmao

also its not a "give fortnite, take nothing" situation. if they allow fortnite skins in their game they'll extremely likely get a cut of the revenue for fortnite skins purchased for that game similar to UEFN revenue, but they'll also get millions of fortnite players seeing their skins show up in fortnite. if you're a game with thousands of weekly players and fortnite players see skins made for your game, you could hypothetically make more money from your fortnite skins than the actual game.

I am fully expecting that to be gamed by lewd non-porn games and furry fetish games though.

>skins in fortnite can be used in other games
Wait a minute, wasn’t this concept the exact same pitch they tried to use to sell NFT’s to people back in ‘21?
>”with blockchain technology, you can use something from X game in other games!”
>>

Obly uncs play fortnite now. It's why Timmy is seething so much at Roblox.

Yeah, except when its outright baked into Unreal Engine 6 then it isn't some retarded scam like ubisoft's nft guns they promised would be usable in multiple games and then they never did it.

If its a part of unreal engine 6 you can just toggle and do some mild gruntwork to setup, and it lets you apply for fortnite skin approval for all your game's skins (aka a mountain of money), then a fuckton of games are going to implement it if just as a test.
>>
>>741474623
The difference is, Epic actually have the infrastructure, tools, and most of the AAA on the same engine, so it has a much better chance of working.
Atleast one issue is still art style dissonance, unless every game just treats the fortnite skins as some gimmicky extra
>>
I don't care about Tim Sweeney's metaverse. I just want to play Fortnite.

They've been adding more realistic skins lately, like real life movie/tv show collabs will have realistic facescans of the celebrities they're based on. But also they've been trying out a few realistic looking original skins that might be using that metahuman thing they've been dabbling in for a few years.
>>
>>741474623
You're retarded and have clearly never played a game by Valve before
>>
>>741475845
nta but I think the thing is that tf2 skins or csgo skins or dota sets were never usable in any other games

whereas timmyvision is set to put every nearly single skin in fortnite in other unreal engine games and allowing games to create skins usable in fortnite with some revenue share system not yet disclosed

oh boy, I can't wait for game sizes to be even more bloated because every game in UE6 has to ship with ten thousand extra textures and models just to accommodate a bunch of meme skins from fucking fortnite

no worries anon just install fortnite and you'll only need to have one set of installed fortnite assets :^)

either that or on demand texture streaming when you use it, lmao

All of fortnite's skins are on a single rig with a few exceptions for units with weird heads or some bonus appendages. I assume the plan is that you build for one model type, and then the rest are shipped with the skin when downloaded and handled in engine since that stuff is cosmetic and doesn't need to be accounted for gameplaywise.

I'm glad I don't play timmyshit (fortnite) ue5 is already a do not buy logo on most games. I don't waste my tdw on vaseline and artifacts shit

Anon, there is a 100% chance a lot of games do it. Like look at this game - it sold basically nothing and company has basically shut down after release. But if they could have put those two asian sluts in fortnite, it likely would have made ten times the revenue it did as an actual game in one day from just their share of those skin sales.
>>
>>741479201
There's probably some default UE6 character rig and devs have to use that to import Fortnite characters.

Basically just a cosmetic.
Epic games wants to make cosmetics fungible, and is adding support for you to use your skins from one UE6 game to another as well as allowing developers to make their skins compatible/released within Fortnite.

If you don't care, its entirely cosmetic so no big deal.

If you do care, you can buy like one skin (like hatsune miku) for like $10 and make it your avatar in all unreal engine 6 games that support the feature.

The model just looks ugly as fuck. At least partially because the proportions need to fit the Fortnite rig.

thats just for height tons of anime skins have different facial proportions like bleach
I dont think miku is ugly but she could be better, its like they based her off miku 1.0 instead of a more recent one

>>if you buy sonic or sora or goku or meow skulls or raven team leader in fortnite for $12 to $15 each, you'll be able to use them in a wide variety of games
Retard. They'll use that as an excuse to increase the price of those skins
>>
>>741470589
>Sonic
I wish but it's just likely a Crossworlds cosmetic and nothing else
>>
>>741484302
No, they've been doing this with a few games.
The deal is if you buy the game on epic, you get a fortnite cosmetic. They did it with goat simulator, among us, bill the diver, some star wars games, etc... It's gonna be a similar deal here. Either buy the cosmetics with v-bucks or buy the game and get the cosmetics free.

Dave the diver and bloons to include their cosmetics for far less than the store price ($10 and $7 instead of $15 each) but at the same time 007 and batman included accessories rather than skins (batman was obviously hastily removed since they released a new batman same patch lmao)

Still $35 for a game and sonic would make sense but I'm waiting till its confirmed

>>741481874
They raised the price of vbucks 20% to 7% based on what amount you buy lmao so already happened
