How am I supposed to find decent games on steam when 99% of it is dogshit now? Its even worse than the unity asset flip and steam greenlight days. Are there any storefronts that have standards for the games they sell? GOG sucks too.

emulators and just play what is guaranteed to be good

Find organic websites using a search engine that isn't google with an active non-streetshitter or bot or shill infested group to interact with.
Go find lists of top games that aren't made with AI and are made by human beings.
Steam is infested with scammers, AI, bots, and paid algorythm favoritism so it's nigh impossible to just stumble upon something new and decent there.

At least its not an early access open world crafting game. Thanks.

99% of everything was always dogshit, put some fucking basic effort in. There are tools specifically for this now. Find relatively trusted recommendation lists on Steam or follow people whose tastes you generally agree with to see what they play.

>oh but I'm so discerning, no recommendations are fitting to my refined palate
Then if you want to be a proud faggot, don't be a lazy proud faggot, read up on previews of games or risk playing new stuff that doesn't have a lot of traction yet.

You can't be both a proud discerning individual with special taste and also be a lazy cunt that doesn't actually put effort in, otherwise it just makes you annoying and whiny.

>Now
Always. Always and forever. It has always been like that with vidya. Today. Last year. In the Blockbuster days. There is nothing different today than 20 years ago. There has always been a sea of garbage that you sift through for the gems. It's literally no different these days. You just have to sift and no one is going to do it for you.

What kind of games do you like? Do you like the ones in your Discovery Queue? What do you think of X-COM games (both original and reboot)?

You're not finding the really good shit if you limit yourself to steam.

You could find ganes easier back then, especially smaller multiplayer titles that you could get lobbies in. Now the only multiplayer games on steam with players are live service slop or friendslop (which will die in a month)

>Then if you want to be a proud faggot, don't be a lazy proud faggot
I have sifted through shit for a while and only two games come to mind in the past 3 years, heavy metal death can and CRUEL. How about someone makes a storefront not stuffed full of walking simulators, early access open world survival games, friend slop, live service slop and unfinished garbage in it?

>Saintslop
You thought no one would notice what you were referencing, but I just talked to him last night on his Danny Phantom stream.

I like horror games but that genre is completely raped with abysmal games. Its either a walking simulator, in development hell, le ps1 puppet combo slop or friendslop. Walking simulators like amnesia and fnaf have really raped that genre.

How do you find games on Steam at all? The UI to search through tags is kind of shit, and the community tagging system itself means irrelevant games can worm their way as a meme or something. I never really try to comb through it, except recently because I want a good horror lifesim, but people barely make lifesims let alone horror themed
>>
>>741482591
Well shit, I know fuck-all about horror games.
Best I can recommend are stuff with guns like Killing Floor 1 or The Darkness 2
>>741482824
I scroll down to "more like this" on the store page of games I like, check the developer's other games or google "games like [game i liked]".
>>
>>741481961
no more decent games, will

What kind of person just goes through the discovery feed all day looking for games to buy? Why are you relying on some black box algorithm to choose your games for you? Are you not able to from an opinion on your own? Do you not know how to go elsewhere and grab some insight? Can you not make an informed decision? Are you even human? Humans can have opinions, humans have the capability to form their own original thoughts. Where are yours?
>>
>>741482591
Horror is the one game that keeps getting consistently great games maybe you should try a little harder I dont even like horror and yet I get recommended stuff like this by steam.

NTA but all of steam is an algorithm so I don’t see what your issue with the discovery queue is
Personally I like the calendar
