My theory is that they're experimenting with new formulas on the cheap in the search for the mythical "wider audience." With Nightreign they just recycled assets and outright copy & pasted BR danger circle mechanics the draw people in who just play the popular slop. Low cost experiment since they're mostly reusing shit they made for ER.

With Duskbloods they're going to experiment with extraction slop instead and in order to avoid the risk of major losses they sold it to Nintendo in exchange for exclusivity. Nintendo pays them, they make their experimental "Souls" extraction slop game and gauge how well it does. If it bombs, Nintendo paid them anyway.

I have engaged with the multiplayer in every post-dark souls fromsoft game but in very limited ways. Either PvP or co-op I've only done it when I want to which is a very small amount of time compared to just playing the games in single player. Because they are seeking this as a PvPvE game I am assuming you don't really get that option to choose whether you get to play single player or not and I don't like the sound of that.
