>>741527998It's my #1 favorite game of all time. As a survival horror game yes it is very good. I just wish there were harder difficulty modes, and I think the game would have been better with a limited inventory like Resident Evil has. But in terms of Silent Hill games it easily has the best gameplay and game design of them all The PC port is coming along really well and will probably become the best way to play it by the end of 2026. Lots of nice features like playing at high frame rates without any of the glitches that happen on emulation with the 60fps patch (harry and enemies doing double damage, SFX getting broken, etc). And hopefully some kind of mod support will emerge too My favorite part of the story is how Harry and Lisa interact with each other. It is so somber and they seep with empathy for each other until Lisa tragically breaks down completely and Harry can't do anything to help
Silent Hill 4 sucks ass. The Eileen shaving poster is based but the game itself is dogwater. Origins is a better and more genuine Silent Hill experience.

>>741531169>normie glazing of itThough I do think SH1 is the better story, that pseud glazing phenomenon is something the entire series experiences and is ultimately what led to the later SH games made in the West missing the entire fucking point of the games. SH is, at the end of the day, a love letter to western horror through a Japanese lens, and the original writers had decent familiarity with occult themes and were huge Lynchfags who understood how to write in abstraction. SH1 is the better game I feel because it keeps that abstraction within the bounds of the cult plot, while SH2 is much more nebulous and therefore not as tight metaphysically. Not particularly difficult to understand if you're familiar with the material SH pulls from, just messy as fuck compared to SH1.
