Any weapons you've given a first try in Wilds?
>>
>>741536595
>Charge Blade
Absolutely love it
>Great Sword
Only other time I used it was in Gen 1. Super fun.
>Gunlance
Pretty fun
>Bow
Just picked it up and I’m enjoying it quite a lot. I never liked asymmetrical bows, but now that I’m actually using them, they don’t bother me that much. Rey Dau bow might be my favorite

Rise got me to pick up Hammer and HBG. Glad this game got me to pick up 4 more so far. With each game changing how every weapon feels, I like knowing that I’m now open to a lot more options if my usuals don’t vibe with me.

Gonna give this another go. I’m assuming this thread will go to shit like all the others. Started a discord for those who want to get away from this board and actually enjoy some Monster Hunter together: https://discord.gg/2gHSgnqkh

Pointless because many of the weapons have their worst rendition in Wilds. Focus mode seals the deal as hardly playing any weapon.

I was planning on it, but I ended up going back to ol' reliable. I tried CB and GL, but as weapons get more complex, I have less and less patience to learn how to play them.
>>
It's actually insane how a single game released and killed all interest in the franchise. How did they fuck up this bad? What was the core thing that drove so many people away? Focus mode? I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
>>
No because only SEAS/Jeets play this streamlined dogshit
>>
>>741541143
>but I ended up going back to ol' reliable
Fair. Also becomes harder to convince yourself to try out a new weapon when you're already in the end game.
>>
>>741541609
Sum of its parts. Way too easy until 10 star at the very end/Omega Savage, horrible story, ugly characters, boring progression, focus mode, performance etc.
>>
>>741541609
World only worked the first time and Tokuda tried to copy paste it again. World is only palatable if it's your first game.
>>
>>741542126
Yeah. At least I can be content with crafted weapons against regular monsters. Way more fun than the rng grind too.

Majority of Capcom's sales come from PC. The PC version is where they royally fucked up performance. It's significantly better now, but it took nearly a year to get there. I imagine, with the Switch version on the way, that there's going to be even further optimization or the ability to crank the settings down even further. As it is right now, even a Steam Deck can run the game.

While Capcom did fuck up, it's not entirely their fault either. So many people think their 10 year old PC should still be able to run the latest and greatest games. I cannot even begin to explain to you the overwhelmingly large amount of people that think upgrading their GPU is enough. Wilds is a CPU heavy game. A GPU upgrade is a very brute force band-aid solution to the problem. When I upgraded my CPU last year, 9900k to 9950X3D, I got a huge boost in performance in literally every single open world game. When I upgraded my GPU, 3090 to 5080, I got an extreme boost cause I am no longer bottlenecked anywhere, plus I get to utilize the most up to date versions of DLSS/Frame Gen. At 3x Frame Gen/DLSS-Quality, I'm clearing over 200FPS in 1440p Ultrawide. The fact of the matter is, even if a game is optimized, modern games still need modern hardware to run well. Even before shit got too expensive, a large amount of people refused to upgrade. Valve publicly stated that most Steam users PC's are weaker than a PS5, which itself is already being pushed to the limit by Wilds.

is it worth playing this or world. never played a mh game.
>>
>>741538273
not that anon once you play all of the weapons you got the basic stuff down and don't you bring in speed running trash I'm here to hunt faggot.
>>
>>741536595
No. It's why I wanted to new ones. I've always been a fan of all of them. I guess I really fell in love with SnS in this one. They just need to make stronger monsters because the I love this fucking Hammer and it's not fair for them.
>>
>>741545975
Oh right, sorry. Jeet shit sloppy woke slop. Omega too shit easy slop. Focus sloppy mode shit.

There, happy?

Base game
>PS3 graphics
>Retarded interface
>Every low rank monster dies in 2 hits
>Every low rank monster deals 0 damage
>Unskippable walking segments
>Infinite restocking so it's impossible to die
>Power Clash is literally just a 3 sec cutscene that wastes your time and doesn't do anything
>No cat cooking
>Weather system serves no purpose other than to make the game worse
>Like 95% of set bonuses are useless
>The "endgame" consists of hunting the same apexes because, for whatever reason, Capcom refuses to make every monster 9star tempered
>9 star tempered monsters oneshot you and have more HP than Fatalis so G rank will feel like a cake walk
>The "reward" for killing 9stars is gacha talismans that give you skills (even though we already have too many skills)
>No HR final boss
>Artian system makes 99% of weapons in the game useless (lmao)
>Collaboration is not even a monster but some generic colorless robot
>You can use NPC hunters on monsters but them carting doesn't count so it's literally just cheating
>Underwater combat
>Less monsters than MH2 and 4 in base game
>No MH language
>First flop in franchise's history
Is this the worst game of all time?

G rank
>Created by the director of Exoprimal (game no one ever played)
>Gimmick that makes your weapon useless unless you use it
>Nothing about the game is fixed
>Overuse of Elder Dragons
It's over
>>
>>741546116
Anon, "basic stuff" isn't mastering. I'm no speed runner fag, but 90% of quests shouldn't take more than 15 minutes
>>
>>741546230
The story really slows down the experience with how it's presented. It's why I like Rise. It's so easy to start it up and get fucking hunting at level 1. I preferred when the story was flavor text for people who wanted to engage with it. Now I don't get any quirky shit with puns and characters with fun schticks. They took away the fucking meowcenaries and they're going to charge me to bring them back. You have to pay $50 to get wyvern ears.

As a dedicated MHfag I know mainline MonHun tends to push hardware to it's limits, it's been that way since the series left the PSP
I upgrades to a 4070Super and even then release performance was really fucking bad.

>>741546019
World has it's expansion, MonHun doesn't shine until the expansion is released.
Also World is like $5 compared to Wilds which is still really pricey.
Wilds is fun but a base game can never compete with a complete MH release.
>>
>>741546250
You know that explicitly lying hurts all your other arguments, right? Or are you attempting to fraud Wilds-haters in general?
>>
>>741546019
World + Iceborne. It's so cheap that it's really not a big deal if you end up dropping off. If you do end up wanting to play Wilds after it, then you have more than enough time to play through all of World + Wilds before the expansion for Wilds comes out. I imagine it will be out Jan-Feb 2027 at the absolute earliest.

If you decide to play through World, then keep playing after you finish the expansion. The best stuff the game has to offer comes after you roll credits for the expansion.

>>741541609
Honestly trying to play this game with friends is retarded. They never understood the cutscene thing in world and it's back and now there's a link party thing they also don't understand. Why can't I start a lobby, my friends join it, and we do the story together.

Also weapons like great sword feel like shit in wilds. I've never taken off Sword And Shield in this game.
>>
>>741546961
Insect Glaive feels great, once they patched the controller scheme.
>>
>>741547026
Sucks to play with a controller that doesn't have back buttons. Literally every weapon I use, I utilize back buttons. Insect Glaive, since day 1, feels fucking divine on my controller, but I know the controls for it would be absolute dogshit if it weren't for my back buttons.
>>
>>741547026
I'll try it when I get home from work
>>
>World: People complain about the cutscenes and how difficult that makes it to play with friends
>Rise: Capcom fixes this. Can almost immediately jump into hub with bros without issue.
>Wilds: Fuck you.
>>
>wont get another monster hunter until probably mid-late 2028
why couldnt they just abandon this piece of shit
>>
>>741547253
there is an easy explanation for this but a certain jap wouldnt like it
>>
>>741546961
It's funny how 3DS monster hunter, which everyone constantly bitched was hindering multiplayer functionality, was leagues better than modern monster hunter 15 years later
You make a lobby, people join said lobby, then you can play any quest, and it even has all your toons in the cutscenes (which are also easily skippable)
>>
Hunting Horn. The Congalala version has some real nice effects.

I've been playing these games for too long to give anything a first try, but if I had to give my 2 cents on weapons
>GS
It's just post-world GS, absurd burst damage as always and has perhaps the most reliable offset in the game, not as boring as pre-world GS but still boring
>LS
I really like the revamped spirit blade combo and new red gauge moveset, Focus strike sucks balls but it makes up for the directional followup being pretty good at popping multiple wounds
>SnS
Best version of SnS yet as far as I'm concerned, incredibly addicting
>DB
Pretty much the same as DB, I like the revamped Demon Dance and the focus strike is a good way to keep Spiral Slash
>Hammer
Feels a bit incomplete so far, offset is inherently unreliable and all of the hammer's offsets suck and are the definition of high risk low reward, the new charge spin is hella fun though
>HH
Probably the best HH iteration so far, but locking offset to a specific melody is an odd decision, I like how they kept Earthshaker and Bead of Resonance but made them better, hilt stab parry is a very interesting idea
>Lance
The best version of Lance hands down, first time Lance is actually fun to use AND arguably strong despite its lack of burst damage
>GL
The best version of GL hands down, everything just works to the point even charged shelling is legit viable
>SA
Great moveset but still unbalanced in terms of MVs, at least Axe Mode exist this time around unlike Rise
>CB
SAED feels pointless now with how slow it is, they need to speed up some things and bring back actual guard points from previous games already
>LBG
It's still broken, but I'm glad Sticky is dead and Spread takes -some- commitment now
>HBG
Feels weak and poorly thought out, the offset special ammo is awesome and super fun but pointless given how offset works, Wilds Wyvernpiece is dogshit
>Bow
Dragon moves got nerfed too hard, amazing otherwise
>Insect Glaive
Desperately needs proper defensive options and the focus strike is not a good Pogo rebalance
>>
>>741547253
Shit like this convinced me that the Portable team has a better grasp on what makes MH good
>>
>>741549318
saed is situational like it was in every game before world
>>
>>741549480
You'd hardly use SAED in Pre World games outside of maybe Axe Hopper spam in XX, losing red shield was almost never a good tradeoff, World and beyond removed the old guard point hyper armor but in turn let you keep your shield charge which made SAED actually worth using regularly.
The problem with Wilds SAED is that monsters are legit too fast now, Rise also had fast mons but in Rise you have Ready Stance as a true guard point like pre World games which helps cut down animation time by removing the pushback animation on block, Wilds goes back to World by removing that advantage but keeps monsters hypermobile so we're back to pre World games where SAED is barely useful but not because it's a bad resource investment, because there's hardly any time to pull it off and you'd be better off pizza cutting things in almost any situation.
They either need to bring back some sort of guard point that works like Lance's counterpoke and ignores pushback or they need to speed up SAED's animation to make it worth using, especially now that impact phials are pretty weak since raw CB has no reason whatsoever to use SAED.
>>
>>741549318
tl:dr wilds sucks ass
>>
>>741550004
saed did not and does not need to be worth using regularly
thats not what was good or what would make the weapon better
>>
>>741550090
I disagree, it would be one thing if CB worked like other weapons but it's the most skill tax heavy and resource intensive weapon in the game with a nuke move that basically never does its intended job, it has the opposite issue of SA where the entire moveset is currently designed to make you spam Spiral Burst Slash and stay in sword mode as much as possible because it's the most effective damage option, CB doesn't give you a reason to ever use SAED despite having excellent burst damage in this game.
SAED needs to be worth using at least somewhat regularly considering how much setup and resource juggling CB has and how you have two distinct playstyles in SAED centric CB and pizza cutting CB that both need specific builds to even work, you need to give people a reason to splurge their phials after all the charging and grinding for decos and armor pieces, and the thing is it's not hard to fix this issue, literally just give make some guard points work like Lance's guard points and the problem is solved, either that or simply speed up the animation.
>>
>>741547239
The new bread 'n butter is to use the sideways and backwards focus mode strikes, depending on where you want to position yourself.

god I wish Wild Hearts would get a sequel.
I couldn't get into God Eater, too much boring anime dialogue.
