You won't like mine OP but I'll say it anyway, FF4 is the worst game of the first nine and has basically nothing going for it, and fundamentally sent the series in a bad direction.

FFX-2 is a much better video game than FFX.
FFXI is the game that saved Square Enix from bankruptcy. The money they used to make ff14 earned off the ffxi subscriptions is still the biggest fuck you to ever happen to the fanbase. FFXI is the most important final fantasy game to exist, for players getting more games and for the company, and it's also the last good one.
V is the last real FF game, VI was the beginning of the enshittification.

FF7 Remake and Rebirth and Revalidation suck. The graphics are 11/10 beyond perfect but everything else is bad.
FF4 is the most overrated game in the series. For all the more popular games, I can at least see what the appeal is and some of that popularity is merited. For FF4 though it does not deserve that popularity or praise at all, objectively.

Came in here and I was surprised to see much discourse over FFIVActive Time Battle was innovative for its time. Good amount of environments to go through. Still close to fantasy without going too hard into urban territory like magitech
