I finished the gothic remake and it was decent, I decided to go and play gothic 2 next. I never played it with th expansion pack before so I was really looking forward to seeing the new content. So far I fucking hate it, the new combat system in notr is just terrible. I don't know why they thought gothic 2 needed a morrowind hit chance system but it turns every combat encounter into a total slog where you do zero damage but every enemy has a decent chance of just one shotting you. I gave up trying to fight bandits because they will just repeatedly instakill me even though I have the merc armor. Also they made stat increases cost double LP, which isn't a fucking balance change it just makes the game slower, especially bad since there's not enough enemies around to make this system work. I got 1 handed up to 50 and even then I can't reliably kill a bandit, i'm debating just uninstalling notr, I don't feel like it's worth the hassle.

But i am not one to speak really since i only played the remakes and new Resident Evils and planning to play the old ones at a later point. But it's worth playing Gothic 1 simply because Gothic 2 is such a masterpiece it's insane. Also, if you do play G2, play the version with the NOTR expansion. And prepare for a difficult journey
