But idk, i'd rather deal with a flawed game that does something far more unique, or maybe has a theme that is far more appealing to me over time travel dragon quest. Excuse the food analogy, but is basically the vanilla ice cream of jrpgs. Even Dragon Quest, that is often accused of being generic is more interesting. Therefore Cross > Trigger
Because I replayed it recently and everything interesting about the combat flies out the window once you get enough techs that hit all enemies.

I also do like the soundtrack and the graphics, and there are scenes in which the atmosphere is immaculate. But those things do not even come close to making up for the two fatal flaws I outlined earlier. It's a game you might love if you play it as a kid, because maybe the writing will speak to you in a way that it doesn't to me, or maybe you've never played a turn-based RPG, so the gameplay will feel fun. That's not me, so this game is not for me.

Double/Triple Techs are fun ideas, but the positioning aspect from a few early ones gets dropped almost immediately, at the end of the day it's still ATB, and worst of all it's only a 3 Man Party. 4 should be the absolute minimum, and every FF post-SNES (except 9) suffers for this, and they don't even have Combo Techs to make up for it. My opinion of the actual combat is low, but it at least tries to make up for its worst shortcomings.
