Basically run everything at 4K 60 Fps with Ray tracing.You need a 2500 (at least) cuck machine to do the same. I buyeted my PS5 Pro last christmas for 700 (disk driver included)
It works as a way to forward and test the upscaling techniques that will be further utilized in the PS6.

The PS4 Pro was an improvement on the PS4 by a big degree and when it happened it improved both original PS4 games and all games after its release used it as the target platform from then on.With the PS5 Pro PSSR was the idea behind its existence since it's clearly something that's going to be used on the PS6 forward. The problem is that that is all over the place when it even improves a game or not and typically makes games look worse or perform worse. It can smooth out some framerates like FFXVI compared to the base PS5, and some games do genuinely benefit from it like Death Stranding 2 or Stellar Blade, but then you get games which run worse like Silent Hill 2 remake or Alan Wake 2 for example. The improvements you gain as an end-user are also imperceivable without a side-by-side comparison, and at best you get to play some specific games with Quality modes at 60 FPS which is few and far between as they have to be supported to do that.It also doesn't come with a disk drive so you then have to spend an extra $80 going that route if you actually like video games instead of wanting to be tied to a digital marketplace and let Sony dictate what you can play while also having significantly worse sales and prices for doing so.

Devs do not care that the PS5 Pro exists, almost no one provides extra modes or anything like they did with the PS4 Pro, they just use it to do the equivalent of Boost Moding PS5 games. It's so expensive and not many people own it compared to the PS4 Pro that devs are just ignoring that it exists or rarely giving some minor framerate increase option in exchange for looking worse.You basically have to play exclusively at 4K and only 4K to see a difference at all to begin with as the 1080p mode is borderline identical to the base PS5, and even at 4K for the most part a base PS5 is still extremely close to what the PS5 Pro gets you.

The game looks night and day difference especially with the new PSSR2 update on the 60fps mode with Pro.There are some games that utilize it well and correctly. A lot of Sony games have like 5-6 visual modes on the PS5 Pro, and while not all games have it, PSSR2 has given the latest games a visual sharpness and fidelity that is respectfully better than PS5. It was worth it to me at the $700 it used to cost. I'll agree with you that PS4 Pro was the better utilization of a "Pro" console, but the economy wasn't on fire and it was selling at a modest $400 compared to the ripoff $900. That killed the PS5 Pro dead in the water.

The problem is that those types of games are very few and far between even now and you also take a hit to other PS5 games due to PSSR even after the update to it. Most of the benefits are coming to specific games like FFXVI where it smooths out the framerate of specific Performance modes but then you're playing in Performance modes that always look so much worse to achieve that performance anyway.It's simply not worth it over waiting for a PS6 since you can't opt out of when PSSR is running poorly, and I imagine if a PS6 Pro does happen it will be just as minuscule an update over it.
