Miquella was the perfect god for that world, the god they actually deserved. A God that would not be controlled by fickle humans emotions. Miquella was the perfect God Goldmask wanted to create. People want to fuck the doll so much, they don't even see that Ranni ending is just resetting the cycle. There was no gods in the time of the hornsents, and what did they do? They tried to create their own God, because that's what people do, since the dawn of time. Ranni can try and take the elden ring away, but she can't change human nature, she can't stop humans from creating new gods. And you don't even need the Elden ring to create a new god, as Malenia proved it, the support of an outer god is enough. Miquella was the only chance for peace, and they wasted it for the sake of "freedom"', freedom that will just result in people craving for the creation of new gods.
