I'm in the market for a new one, but every time I try I end up returning them. Elden Ring was something where I noticed turning the camera at an angle was extremely slow before speeding up, because analog stick deadzones do not typically go to a full -1/+1 input at angles anymore. Calibrating the analog sticks for some reason never solved that issue, at least in my experience.I stick with my ps3 controller. Nearly 20 years old and still chugging along. But I'm sure it'll give out soon.
>>741628386I've got a gamesaar nova 2 lite and I'm pretty happy with it. I love my dualsense, but I have to be honest that only like 3 games even use it's features, so it's a bit overdesigned for no reason. For simple control, 8bitdo SN30-PRO (not pro 2, not sn-30+ not pro+. Just SN30-PRO). I paid $20 for it, and use it 5 years later. Works on switch, PC, xbox, even ios bluetooth, works great usb-c connected, has vibration, symmetrical sticks, and no FUCKING DILDO HANDLES so it actually fits in my pocket or a bag.
not any official xbox or playstation controllers thats for sure
Vader 5 pro is top tier, chinkshit that performs better than the "pro" OEM controllers
>>741628386For no fuss? Just get an xbox one. Just plugs in. Werks
>>741628386I bought the Gamesir G7 Pro 8K and there is no fucking games to use it on, i'm actually mad because it feels good to play with, it would have been better with a thumbstick tension because it feels a little too loose for my preference for some games.
the playstation controller is the best.the xbox controller has positioned the movement stick on a retarded place as retarded as the controller from the n64. anyone who thinks the xbox controller is the best is a retard that doesn't know about gaming.
>>741628386Got a Gamesir G7 pro Aimlabs edition. Really nice controller. The non 8k's I think are better though. There's almost no reason to go above 4k polling. In addition the non 8k's get trigger haptics which the 8k's don't. Also there's no difference between hall effect and TMR no matter what people tell you.If you like a controller and it has hall effect there's no reason to dump it for a TMR stick. The only other difference between the 8k versions and standard g7 pro's that actually matters is that the D-pad on the 8k versions are seriously better. Like way way better. So if you want trigger haptics and don't care about d-pads get the standard g7 pro.If you don't care about trigger haptics and want the better d-pad get the aimlabs version.

I hate the fact that the gaymsaar cyclone 2 seems to be the best controller I've had, although the lack of trackpad, the xbox positioning and the lack of dognose holds it back a little.
I have elite 2 but it's kinda heavy and my hands hurt after a while. I'm wondering about 8bitdo ultimate 2. It's supposed to be 100g lighter. Anyone had any experience with it?
>>741628386Controller autist here.Depends.Disregarding features and layout preferenceSaar<8bit<flydigi<box<ds5<edge<elite<moddedds5.The overpeiced 3rd party pro controllers are all worse than the elite 2 and only worth it if they come with a gimmick you really want and you think they feel great.Saar tier feels and functions great for their price tier but build quality is shit. You might buy 2 or 3 of them.Stickdrift is a meme and an easy fix since it's just dirt 99% of the time. Both steam controllers are great, but unless you want the touchpads you skip. They do feel a bit cheap but the og had fantastic build quality despite the feel and never died.
>>741628386No idea, my xbox dpad died yesterday after getting splashed by water and now i gotta replace it. The thing was amazing, lasted for close to 7 years without a single problem.Ill probably just get a new one since getting a steam controller is next to impossible

Got a question for the autistic controllerfags, whats the best controller i can get reliability and durability wise? im an oldfag and treat my controllers really well, but i still feel the newest controllers arent that sturdy compared to the old ones, also internal batteries die over time so cables seem better i guess, my sex controller feels like shit compared to the 360, and i had to replace both my analogs with hall effect ones on my ds5, meanwhile my old DS2 works like day 1, even the springs on the analogs still have a lot of tension
>>741632116Anything with hall effect or TMR sticks and mechanical switches on the buttons.
>>741631918Standard flydigi stuff, decently designed peripheral ruined by their atrocious quality control. Make sure you get one produced after March of this year. They stealthily fixed the self-destructing back paddles and the tension rings loosening themselves.
>>741631254That makes sense then. The 8k feels really solid so far.
>>741632063Answer the question.
steam controller, switch pro is also comfy but the dpad sucks and no anal triggers
>>741632001my dualsense was made in vietnam.
>>741632286Your question was retarded and your next question is retarded because it's already been answered. All controllers are made in china. Even first party xbox or playstation controllers are made in china. You may get lucky with an "assembled in US or Japan" but that's usually just the plastic shell being put on. It isn't the 1990's anymore retard.
>>741628386I want to like the dual shock but not many games actually use the haptic feedback.
>>741629259The feel is perfect, the analog sticks don't grind to the borders so they feel super soft to move, all buttons are in the perfect middleground without being too mushy (PS5) or too clicky (Xbox), they feel soft to the touch but have good feedback. The Xbox d-pad is way better though.

>>741631918I have one those, it is my current main pad. It has low latency and all the buttons and triggers feel good. The d-pad is also really good if you don't mind asymmetric layouts for 2D games. The two big issue everyone had is that the tension adjustment rings come loose and two extra back paddles can break. I never used those paddles but I know there's a DIY method to make them last longer. I never had a problem with the rings but I also keep them in the default setting so YMMV. There's a new version that apparently fixes those issues however.

how do non xbox controller users deal with not having the adapter?
>>741633365Anon, I just put one over another to be sure....
>>741633432What's that for?
>>741632796For PC use, Edge has an advantage in that the paddles and fn buttons are both freely remappable in Steam, DS4Windows, or whatever else. Modded Dualsense can only copy other buttons on the controller, and can't designate an unbound back button as a gyro toggle either. That said, nobody told me you couldn't use fn buttons and face buttons at the same time, so those two aren't useful for anything you'd use in gameplay.
>>741633146If you use steam it just werks... if you don't it's whatever it feels like today.
Is there an actual difference in FEELING with the different types of sticks? I've never had them so just curious.
>>741633961Hall effect are more reliable than normal sticks and have no drift. TMR are hall effect sticks but with better accuracy and responsiveness allegedly.
>>741633835I don't get why people circle jerk gyro
>>741634056I understand, I'm asking about how they feel. Can you tell the difference in using them or no?Truthfully I've literally never once experienced drift or any stick issues besides my N64 which literally everyone did because the plastic would grind down till it snapped off.
>>741634165>I don't get why people circle jerk refrigeration, iceboxes are fine
>>741633961magnetic sticks can have no inner deadzone
>>741633961Tension varies heavily between stick modules. Most china sticks are lower tension than ALPS sticks and 3rd party controllers typically have anti friction rings and metal shafts on the stick caps, so they tend to be perceived as smoother.Output on the good magnetic and capacitive sticks matches or surpasses potentiometers, which is to say it largely feels the same in practice. The early hall effect and TMRs are more erratic, but unless you're very used to the result of something like moving the stick 30%, I wouldn't expect the differences to stick out.
>>741629117Dualshock 3 is objectively better
>>741634165Because it's good.Flick and gyro let's you perform close to mouse. Trackball and gyro if you have a steampad even more. It's my prefered control scheme for tps singleplayer.
>>741634056More importantly TMR sticks use considerably less energy so the battery life is better.
>>741634176The resistance or feel of the sticks has nothing to do with the stick technology it's to do with the gimbals and springs in the sticks.

>>741646332>>741643673The new Steam controller looks like another colossal fuckup like the previous one. Look at the Xbox and DualSense controllers. Their shape, size and button positioning are pretty much perfect. And it feels like comfort to hold in your palm. Now look at Valves. All the buttons are small, the controller is a weird shape, and then they crammed in those touchpads that make the entire controller too busy when they should have made a controller like this: >>741638260 and come up with your own decision where you want the analog sticks, dpad and touchpad to be. You should have been able to swap the touchpads for the analog or dpad in any config that you wanted. But nope instead we got this piece of shit.
>>741628386Steam Controller 8bitdo Ultimate (C, 1, or 2)Depends on what you want. I have tried most controllers on the market and none of the first party ones are any good. Razer sells grabage. GameSAAAR has great mobile controllers (G8+ is incredible for phone/Switch/Switch2), 8bitdo has the best low cost controllers (C 2.4Ghz stands alone at 30 dollars with a hall effect sticks/triggers and a wireless charging dock) and objectively the best Switch 2 pro controller w/ gyro at the lowest cost (Ultimate 1/2). My favorite is the Steam Controller. Has replaced my 8bitdo Ultimate C 2.4Ghz (pic related). I use the 8bitdo Ultimate 2 for my Switch 2 since it is objectively superior in every measurable way to the Switch 2 Pro controller while being half the price (got mine for 45 dollars shipped and comes with a wireless charging dock). It’s pretty nifty when well supported though, I’ve been playing a lot of Deadlock which has full steam input support. It’s pretty much objectively better than a joystick in precision and comfort for camera control, the only reason you don’t see it everywhere on consoles is because MS is a bunch of niggers who don’t support shit and Sony treats their controller’s extra features like gimmicks.

Great otherwise but feel like I must be doing something wrong with it, because the right stick tends to register input I didn't intend, if I'm touching the stick at all. It's not drift, more like it's overly sensitive or has too small of a deadzone
>>741640552>Within 2 years, you'll be out of $200.You can buy replacement sticks for the edge for $19. or pay triple for a set of TMRs from some ebay user.
>>741629117I'd be inclined to agree with you if more than 70% of them hadn't just inexplicably stopped working at this point.PS2 controllers just die. And again, inexplicably, it seems the black ones are the longest lasting. It's the alt colored ones that have largely died. Also really tough repairs because there are like 20 variations in shell configurations that make parts swapping borderline impossible.
>>741652116This was a common problem at launch, the biggest complaint was that Halo just didn't control right. They released a few firmware updates to address it, have you hit those?
>>741652124I got TMR drop ins for my Edge and even though I still bought a Steam Controller that i haven't gotten yet (next week apparently) I have a feeling I'll still use the Edge more often.

>>741653074>ObjectivelyThe latency is not the be-all and end-all metric. It is important for sure, but there is a lot more things to consider. like ergonomics, the amount of extra buttons and build quality. Especially when let's admit it, 99% of people are not good enough to take full advantage of the 1-2ms latency.

>>741657525>the left analogue stick position is not ergonomicErgonomics vary person to person. I can't use Xbox controllers because the stick position strains my hands. If I completely relax my hands they're in the same shape as the ps controller is held, so that's why I prefer it.

>>741657935No underneath it's transparent green. I've put on a transparent black faceplate and black sticks.
Ignoring the price, what modded dualsense is the best?
>>741631102Why would you say non-8K is better when it has a worse D-Pad? D-Pads are one of the most critical parts of a controller to get right.

>>741629921I was about to get this one but found the EasySMX X05 Pro for even cheaper at the last moment, watched some reviews and went with it instead. >>741658774>I love having so many buttonsI struggle to find a use case for 8 extra inputs.
>>741658774That last line is a large part of the reason I went with a Rainbow 3 instead of a Vader 5, I wanted a controller that was fully supported in Steam Input without any hiccups.Unfortunately I did not learn until buying it that the gyro sucks, despite seeing several claims to the contrary, so I might end up getting a Vader 5 anyway.or a Tarantula Ultra if Gamesir's going to add Steam Input support for that too.

My interests lie in spotting retards who have given up critical thinking and replaced it with an LLM. Not everyone in this thread is the same person lmfao. You might understand that if you could think for yourself.
>>741660307It's a thread talking about which controllers people think are the best you greasy fucking jeet. Name me another controller that has TMR sticks, hall effect triggers, mechanical buttons, extra buttons, one of the best d-pads in gaming, 8k polling, turbo and macros with both dongle, hard wire and bluetooth for under 100 bucks.
>>741632668The controller shape is different and bulkier. The button feel is entirely different. They tried to make the controller quieter because of the microphone and fucked up the buttons as a result. I always pick my DS4 over my Dualsense unless the game uses the haptics/triggers. In some games with very intense button input requirements like THPS the difference is massive.DS4 is the ideal for me. I wish a chink company would steal the molds and put a faster PCB in it since Sony doesn't produce it anymore.

>>741660680It says a lot about the DS4 that it has as many DIY faster PCB options as it does. Most of the options are wired-only and stripped the features, but I recently learned ZD made a DS4 board that keeps all the features and also optionally includes a 2.4ghz dongle. I'm somewhat curious about that.I think Void also sells modded DS4s straight-up, but I don't know if they ship outside Japan.
where did the mechanical click for face buttons meme beginit just feels worse, especially when short travel

is there a tmr or hall effect controller with adjustable stick tension? i have a tmr controller that is pretty cool but if i play anything that needs a bit of precision it is way too loosey goosey/icey feeling and when i go back to the DS4 it's like night and day just because of a little friction
>>741662145gulikit sells good TMR sticks, but you have to know how to solder.
$30 and shits on pretty much every other modern controller with the exception of maybe the Switch 1/2 Pro Controller and the new Steam Controller which I don't have.
>>741662145Flydigi Vader 5 Pro, Beitong KP40D, GuliKit TT Max/Pro
>he can't effortlessly dial phone numbers for making modem connections
>>741662145Flydigi has their own solution on Vader(/Apex?) 4/5 where they add an adjustable tension ring to K-Silver hall effect sticks. I don't know the specifics of how it works, but I've only heard complaints about the Vader 5 rev1 (which still had simple-but-tacky solutions) so I'd assume they're the best choice.Gulikit has TMR modules for retail and included in the TT Pro/Max that are tightened or loosened via a screw under the stick cap. These have a variety of QC and inconsistency issues and can fall apart if loosened too much, in addition to making disassembly a pain. Tends to loosen during use.K-Silver also has TMR modules for retail that will be included in the upcoming Gamesir Tegenaria Pro, which are loosened or tightened by twisting the stick cap. This also changes the height of the stick and due to QC issues can cause them to tilt at an angle.
>>741652253Depends on the model, A models last forever, H models are shit and eventually die on their own.Playing AC04/5/Zero on those has spoiled me in a way that doesn't let me play AC7 w my xbox controller.
flydigi has an option for making joystick input circularbut it doesn't apply to 3rd party (steam) mode which seems to get the raw valuesso the diagonals are like 14% higher magnitude than cardinalsdo you think it is even noticeable in any games?
>>741629117>>741634481For children, yes. But if you're over 10 years old, odds are your hands are too big for these unless you're some little queer.
>>741632927>drift still possibleWhoever made that chart is retarded, dualsense and the dualsense edge controllers are borderline guaranteed to get stick drift, and fairly soon too. The fact that MS and Sony still use potentiometer sticks in their " premium " $200 controllers is nothing short of a scam, simple as that.
>>741629921I've jumped from my DS2 to N2L and really like it except for the dpad not being membrane
>>741664981First party controllers typically overshoot diagonals by 6-12% and games are often developed with that expectation. You don't get full diagonal move speed in a number of games when under that. The main thing circular input matters for is precise right stick aiming so diagonals aren't overly sensitive, but that too might vary by game.
>>741664981>but it doesn't apply to 3rd party (steam) mode which seems to get the raw valuesdon't worry, the chinkpad nogulator v7 will work so make sure to preorder it.

>>741665995post a controller with a good dpad and i am going to tell you how wrong you are alsoworks for me
>>741666283The Elves 2 has a pretty good d-pad. Microswitch d-pads suck, but most membranes are too mushy, have poor diagonals, poor responsiveness, etc.Just because you can play with a shitty d-pad doesn't mean you should.
I just use my original switch pro controller. It probably sucks but I rarely play shit with a controller.
>>741667231i play just fine with any dpad except the micro switch ones
>>741667948It only really matters if you play a lot of d-pad heavy games. The Xbox 360 controller was fine for its console cause you'd barely touch the d-pad, but it was infamously shit.If you are playing a bunch of 2D platformers and retro stuff then there's no reason not to get a better d-pad.
but unorinically, why is the modern controller industry so bad at d-pads? it shouldn't be that hard. snoy's are acceptable, i guess.

>>741638260its interesting, there's no way steam would auto read it as a Playstation controller though right?
Honestly Dualsense wins by default by being the only controller that truly feels innovative or "next gen" mainly due to its adaptive triggers.I also think they may have the best haptics, but I haven't been granted the grace to try the Steam Controller yet.But the adaptive triggers are absolutely amazing when properly implemented (just finished FF7 Rebirth and they were surprisingly done well with gameplay elements)
>>741628386I like the feel of dual shock controller the best but the build quality/battery life/non halleffect stuff is horseshit.I got a steam controller to replace it and it seems promising, doesn't feel as good in the hand but I haven't played a big 3rd person open world (or racing) game with it yet - which is what I bought it for.I think it will probably shape up to be best overall.
