Doesn't have much freedom outside of some chapters based around hubs, but it does have good gameplay content in general. Has a fair amount of "crawling/walking and talking" sections. Good combat foundation, its good practice to "get" the combat and prepare for rebirth. Rebirth is an open-zone ARPG. It is faster in both combat and story-telling (the walking-talking sections are massively cut compared to remake), but rebirth covers the slow part of FFVII story and the game is considered bloated due to the open-world mechanics, none of it is forced, it is just stuff to do in the open areas, but it does affect your battle performance later if you dont do them. Both games are around 40 hours for main story, while remake is around 70 hours for 100% while rebirth is like around 120 hours or even more for 100%.
