Nintendo found their own niche being a family friendly console with a motion control waggling gimmick. This is ultimately why they won that gen. To date its the only gen where all competitors sold well relative to the competition with none being in any sort of enormous lead over the competition. Although you could argue that the 360 might have sold even more because of RROD even though MS wisely also realized they had no choice but to fix their fuck up for free of charge.
