they don't have input lag.
games do have.

Filters do 90% the only reason to have them and are good enough to ignore the inconvicnes of a CRT

I do play on a CRT but this isn't a CRT thread, this is a stealth Deltarune thread. Ngl kind of a bitch move to hide from the janny like this instead of rubbing it into his face, I thought you fags were better.
>>
>>741667228
I got my CRT from my buddy's place. Even recruited them to help drop the 36" behemoth off at my place, but I nearly killed myself hauling it upstairs and throwing it up on a desk alone. Something about the phosphor glow with old vidya just completes the experience.

I am, though the corner of my TV has distorted colors, I think from the speakers. shame but otherwise it's pretty good, been replaying Persona 4 on it, only ever emulated it before so it's quite nice to play on real hardware now.

The ones you're going to get for 10 dollars aren't going to have good colors.

>>741669609
It needs degaussing. If your TV's internal degaussing coil isn't strong enough to cleanse it you can use another CRT TV's screen directly in front of it and let them degauss each other or use a power drill as a degaussing wand.
>>
"Having consoles hooked up" has been a pretty obsolete concept for over a decade now. The only console I have "hooked up" right now is my OLED Switch. About everything, it's easier to just emulate. The Switch is just unique enough to keep plugged in because joycons and all that are hard to replicate via emulation.

I have an old shitty 14' Panasonic combo vcr thing where the mode control switch in the vcr needed cleaned/dialectic grease. I did find a way to svideo mod it but the screen is such shit quality that it didn't matter. The colors bleed and the contrast is fucked. My 20' flatscreen Sanyo with component is much better, but the geometry is fucked for 2d stuff. I really just keep them kicking around to watch my old videotapes I don't feel like rebuying on DVD.

It's overrated. PS2 looks fine over svideo and most Gamecubes don't even have the port for the component cables so you have to use svideo. The OG Xbox is fine on a modern TV running through a GBS-C. Most of the 480p games look really sharp on a modern TV, and the 720p games were obviously made with HD TVs in mind, even though they were rare at the time.

They don't fix motion blur which is the biggest problem with modern displays.

Low res games also just look like shit on modern displays. Take an image that's 256x224 pixels and blow it up on an 80 inch screen and it looks absolutely horrific.

>>741667612
>Doesn't matter, modern OLEDs or LCDs have sub 2ms input lag
No they don't. They have several frames.
Each frame is 16.6ms.

You're thinking of "response times" which has NOTHING to do with input lag.
Also there is no industry standard methodology for testing response times, so manufacturers are free to make up ridiculous horse shit figures like "2ms" which no panel in existence can manage.

>>
>>741667228
>why aren't you gaming on a CRT anon?
I am. I have an emulation rig hooked up to one via a component transcoder running at 240p.
It's absolutely amazing.
I have a sony, and i just got a 68cm LG Flatron off facebook, it cost $300AU (australian dollars).
To get a monitor here with decent motion clarity, you're looking at a 500hz OLED, and they cost about $1800AU.
They aren't as good as a CRT but if you combine the 500hz with the newly released CRT Beam shader, you get very good results. But still, i'd rather spend the 300 on a nice CRT than 1800 for worse results.
>>

I'm a palcuck too. PAL CRT's have done 60hz for decades mate.
>>741671686
Not necessarily. A PAL ps1 will output a 60hz signal if you play an NTSC game in it for eg.
>>
>>741672463
>It's overrated.
It's not, it's outstanding.
And at that size (36 inch) you need the best quality image you can get.
Svideo or component at that size will look absolutely atrocious.
>>
>>741667228
>>almost no input lag
same for plasmas. the only difference is a crt starts drawing the top of the screen before the plasma draws its entire image all at once before the crt has fi nished drawing to the bottom of the screen. if you timeslueth a plasma and crt at the center of the screen they have the same latencyni

I still dont know why lcds cant do this

>>
>>741673765

>>
>>741673635
CRTs function by firing an electron gun at phosphors which makes them sensitive to magnets. No they can't harm your electronics or hard drives.
>>
>>741673897
So getting a magnet near them is what causes them to need degaussing?
