I just wish the writing in these games wasn't so god-awful.
JRPG's with a budget as big as Xeno are rare as fuck, it's so sad that it's ruined with generic shounen characterisation, abysmal voice acting (in japanese and in british/scottish english), and shit-brained plots with endless twists and turns and ridiculous convoluted nonsense.

The combat system that doesn't know if it's here or there doesn't help either. It presents itself as an action RPG but you spend your battles just waiting for 17 different meters to fill up so you can finally press a single button. It's like they're terrified of letting the player be involved.

Mitsuda's music is awful these days too. In the 90s he did some incredible work. Then in the 2000s he started doubling down on the celtic/irish folk music and his output just got worse and worse with each new game.

JRPG's are some of my fave games but i can fully appreciate why a lot of westerners don't touch them with a ten foot pole, because they're cringe as fuck and the childish writing does absolutely nothing to help.

Lets be honest, the only reason Saga was a hard reboot is because Square owns everything in Gears and Takahashi lost access to all his previous ideas when he left, he was still very much trying to realize the Perfect Works thing but with a different name.
Blade is fundamentally different because it started out as a completely separate project and while it eventually started to incorporate more ideas from PW it is still its own thing and no game in the series fits specificaly within the PW framework.

What the actual fuck are you smoking. Those were all terrible in Tales of Arise. I've never seen a game with a worse cutscene direction. Everyone is constantly standing around and talking in boring static poses in "dangerous" situations where enemies are ten feet away in the background. Characters were also super stiff and worst of all they were insanely lazy with camera cuts and movement. The tech is somehow worse than a game on Switch. The character lighting and facial movements have nowhere near as much care applied.

Xenosaga games are an acquired taste, they definitely aren't for everyone. People praise all of the Xenoblade games DLC but they are all 100% optional and are not required in the slightest.

Xenogears is its own thing. You either love it or hate it. The battle system is fucking awesome but I sure hope you like reading nonsensical shit in the second half of the game because hoo boy you are in for a lot of that.

If Fromsoft's games are to be considered AAA then Xenoblade also fits.

No, you really don't. You can actually just have characters be in the military and fulfilling actual active duty. The characters might have their own motivations for being in the military, but you don't need to destroy the base for them to go on to win the entire conflict single handedly. The "incident" doesn't even need to personally involve the characters the story follows, it is just the plot line the game is built around. Making it so everything revolves around the characters is actually just a cheap cop out in 90% of cases, because the story never ends up feeling like it NEEDs to involve these characters specifically to work. Most media understands this, but for some reason shonen is really kneecapped by it and sticks to it religiously, because the writers are still stuck in that teenage phase.

I'm not sure why people are certain that the school will get destroyed rather than the heroes just can't return for whatever reason. XB2 was the only game where the MC lost his home completely, the Colony 9s in XB1&3 were still around and Earth was destroyed in the intro in XBX.

It also wouldn't make much sense in-universe because the vessels have the power to decide wars, unless the Femc is the inciting incident if the villains had the ability to wipe the school out, why wouldn't they have done it at any time before she enrolled?
