What the FUCK do you mean this game cost $2 billion to make?
How can you possibly spend this much money on a fucking video game.
Let's assume that there are 1000 employees working on the game (650 of Rockstar North and the rest from the other subsidiaries) that are all being paid $100,000 a year have been working on the game since the release of GTA V, 13 years ago.
Even with that extremely unlikely scenario, that's still $1.3 billion spent. Where's the other $700 fucking million?
If they all started working on GTA VI full-time after the release of RDR2 then that's $800 million. Where did the other $1.2 billion go??

I know it won't, but I desperately hope the game flops and finalizes the next major videogame crash. I want all these pointlessly bloated AAA developers churning out garbage to fuck off and die.

Is advertising a money laundering scheme?
They've made 2 trailers to advertise the game and the rest of the work has been done for them by the internet due to sheer anticipation and hype.
They literally don't have to do anything between now and release except maybe drop an actual gameplay video to assure everyone.

The only games that sold more copies that sold more copies than GTAV are Tetris and Minecraft. So personal opinion is somewhat irrelevant if we want to talk "flop" this shit is flop-proof. GTA 5 did 10 million, there's no reason to think this can't do 20 especially given how much more mainstream gaming is compared to early 2010s. Inflation adjusted probably comes out to be about the same on game price
>>
>>741683381
GTAO is a horribly mismanaged Frankensteins monster of a "game". It's massive success is due to a number of factors but R* most certainly isn't one of them. The trash fire that was RDR2s online is a perfect example of how bafflingly incompetent they can be with this stuff. Now there's not guarantee that 6 will fully capture the GTAO playerbase, and there's a VERY real chance they fuck it up hard enough to kill it in the crib.

Holy shit this game just CANNOT turn a profit:

$2 billion in development
$5 billion in franchising
$3 billion in advertising

That makes $10 billion and we know you need 5 times your total cost of production to start making a profit so they need $50 FUCKING billions to JUST START making a profit. Let that sink in. Imagine the game releases for a, let's go wild $150 retail they will need to sell

333. 333 MILLION copies, more than FUCKING Minecraft and only second to FUCKING TETRIS. So it would need to be THE SECOND MOST SOLD VIDEO GAME IN HISTORY.
>>
no game should cost more than a billion to make
no AAA game needs more than 200 developers and that's being generous
There's nothing a GTA game could possibly innovate on with all that money except for a ludicrous amount of feature creep that would make San Andreas blush from the sheer amount of it
GTA6 will fail to meet expectations unless a sexy woman can jump out of the screen and start sucking me off

I like the overall structure of GTAO. Having a crime empire and making money is comfy it's the minute to minute gameplay I have an issue with. Flop implies loss, it got shuttered because it was not as profitable as GTAO, much like how they shuttered all possible single player projects in the last decade because it'd not be as profitable as GTAO. R* died in 2015
>>
Have in mind you have to count everyone working at the company, that means the millionaire wages from the suits, plus also the advertising costs, which as a rule of thumb it's usually the same as production/dev costs, so it doubles the costs.
