Press Turn lets you use more of your turn resources on certain characters so you can set up one guy to be the main spender for a particular fight and give them the teammates they need for the right synth abilities to actually build a team around a particular class and ability, but then on the next fight you might want a totally different setup. They also allow you to use Weak/Crit on bosses because it doesn't break the game. It is so much better than Persona which is just a pokemon breeding minmax game where you build a pokemon with the optimal set of generic damage boosting passives
