not all of us care about end game and being tick perfect, i perfectly enjoy the game with the new sailing skill coz i like riding my boat and killing stuff.

if you approach runescape with just the thought of getting maxed or something, you're doing it wrong.
just by setting simple objectives like do all the quests, do all the diary achievements, combat achievements, slayer skill to lvl 95, upgrading your boat to full dragon, etc... just by doing that you'll naturally lvl up, there may be times where you'll have to grind a bit for the quests but not that much, it's only true for the diary achievements (but then again you can finish some areas at 100% but ignore the annoying diaries), only combat master and grandmaster achievements require end game skill and gear.
runescape is just a game you can play at your own pace, there's literally no rush and it's especially true for OSRS because old gear doesn't become useless after few updates like WOW does.
old gear is still valuable and revelant.

it's because you haven't figured out how to make money, just do slayer training and you'll get money.
but the real tip most players don't do is farming, just do herb patches with ultracompost (unlock them and the teleports near them, unlocking Harmony Island herb patch requires high lvl fishing, don't bother if you can stomach the fishing grind), the two cactus patches and the farming guild bush + fruit tree patch and you'll get money crazy fast without needing to do anything hard and grindy things.
you could go full autism and do all the bush/fruit tree and hops patches but this doesn't give you that much money per run compared to the time lost doing them.

personally i have all the herb patches unlocked + 99 farming (easiest 99 btw) + farming cape equipped and magic secateurs, i put ranarr seeds in the normal herb patches, i put snapdragon seeds in the disease free patches, i put a coconut tree in the farming guild, i put whiteberries in the bush patch and cactus in both cactus patches.
and i buy my daily discounted battlestaves from Zaff that i resell on the GE (i have elite diary so i make more money) and i get daily dynamite from the kourend diary (direct teleport to the guy with xeric talisman > inferno) and i get buckets of sand sent to my bank automatically by the sand pit guy with the diary.
all these adds up to lots of money overtime, one run per day is already more than 400K, if i do two herb runs per day it's 700K+ a day.
an herb run doesn't even take long, it's a really good money printer and a good one if you have a life and don't want to grind money on OSRS.
just plant the stuff, it will grow by itself while logged out.
just have all the necessary teleports than bring you near the farming patches and you're good.

Herb farming is legit such a hack when it comes to daily osrs money. I do 3 runs of toadflax every day (max amount of daily teleports from the medium ardy cloak and medium lumbridge ring) and barely have to farm up money for my next bond when my 2 weeks are up

also another tip regarding the teleports near the patches, i do it in this order :
- start run at either Catherby patch or Civitas illa fortis patch (begin at either of them and end the run at the other you didn't start from) > Catherby tele from your house portal (even a basic one with the spell unlocked will do, otherwise Camelot teleport and run east), Civitas has a direct tele to the city, then take the bird transport slightly north east and go to hunting guild then run north
- ectophial tele to Morytania patch
- explorer's ring tele to Falador patch (near the cabbage field)
- Ardougne diary cape for Ardougne patch
- Weiss tele with Icy Basalt
- Troll Stronghold tele with Stony Basalt (with lvl 73 agility and hard fremmink diary you can tele directly next to it)
- Harmony Island tele from your POH (if patch is unlocked, requires 91 fishing for the diary, the skill is AIDS so only do it if you like it or do it via sailing maybe)
- Emir Arena tele with dueling ring (equipped on me) and run south past the gate for cactus patch
- Xeric's Talisman (equipped on me), tele to Glade run south for Kourend patch
- Farming cape tele or skills talisman to farming guild, do herb patch first, then bush patch, then cactus and go north for fruit tree (they regrow by themselves just like the bush and cactus patch), bank whiteberries, coconuts and cactus pines, take money for Zaff staves (840k if elite diary)
- tele to varrock (right click >Varrock coz i set it to the GE for first option), buy staves
- Xeric's talisman tele to inferno, claim free dynamite
- tele to GE (varrock tele set to GE) to sell staves and dynamite
- end run by either finishing at Catherby or Civitas

you can keep the herb seeds and noted herbs in your inventory, sell noted herbs from time to time (not every day) and rebuy new seeds at the same time.
you can use any tool leprechaun (the little green guys near the patches) to note herbs, cactus, whiteberries and coconutes by clicking "use" on your products and clicking on the guy, it will note it, i do it at every patch except harmony patch where i tele directly to emir's arena and note there (coz the leprechaun is close to the cactus patch).

do this and you'll get rich in no time and achieve 99 farming too, i bought tons of expensive gear this way.

you can finance your 99 farming (for the cape, gives which gives the teleport and more herbs) with this, by boosting the XP rate and doing expensive tree runs (and you'll still gain money more than you spend anyway).

if you really like the method, you can "invest" your time by unlocking disease free patches and teleports (like the Ardougne 4 cape for infinite tele and the explorer's ring 4) by doing diaries (and training other skills to get those diaries, remember to boost skills with spicy stew +5 boost), the only diary that is AIDS is the one that you need for 91 fishing because fishing is such a shit skill you might become insane before reaching 91, but at least the reward is very worth it for herb runs.

the only thing i haven't unlocked is changing the civitas patch from normal to disease free because i didn't do the Colosseum for the glory unlock but there's barely any money difference anyway, i just put ranarr in the patch instead of snapdragon.

and btw i use two types of seeds because ranarr and snapdragon gives lots of money, sell easily and if you put ranarr seeds in a normal patch and it dies, it's no big deal because it doesn't cost too much per seed but a snapdragon seed costs a lot of money, so i put it in the disease free patch so that it never dies.

and Runescape 3 has the same way of getting money but not with farming, i do daily player owned ports once per day (ports require a time investement between 6 months and 1 year to begin making money), monthly Miscellania (i use my LOTD ring to tele to miscellania and raise my approval to 100% once per week + add money in the coffer without cashing out) and player owned farm to take my fully grown crystal chins, swamp lizards and Rex dinos to sell their produce (+ get a money tree seed from time to time), just by doing these i got like 2 or 3 billion GP's in a few years and was able to buy end game gear lol
and you can add Reaper slayer tasks (try to farm arch glacor when you can choose the task) to get 300 points and get an Hydrix valued at 40M (it used to be 90M though).

runescape is easy peazy when you know the alternate ways of making coins.
like getting 95 slayer in OSRS and farming alchemical hydra (very easy, very good money but boring) or getting the cheeky araxyte task that is extremely fast to complete and drops boots valued over 1.5M rather often (used to be 3M per boots a while ago) + their common loot and venom sack gives lots of money, just need to set up a cannon and grab everything not bolted to the ground (even every venom sack since they stack and you'll end with lots of them).
or the abyssal demon task with anchoring scroll, it's almost fully AFK with venator bow and drops a whip from time to time, so AFK i don't even loot anything except the really valuable stuff.
only fools or ironmemes get trapped in the gauntlet jail or any boss grind.

just do herbs and trees, get better trees with the money from herb when you can, if possible do all types of trees patches because they really give lots of XP, and do cactus asap they give expensive cactus spine.

you don't need to do the most expensive trees if you don't have the money for it, while it will give slower XP you can prioritise getting money for gear or whatnot, you don't need to rush 99 farming straight away, you can stay at lvl 59 for a while because it gives you access to Snapdragon seeds, but the higher you go, the more herbs you get and the less chance of disease so more money.
i think i had like lvl 70 something for a while, got millions then decided to rush 99 farming with expensive trees and got it in no time.
or just set your objective to 91 farming for the falador elite diary.

but seriously, farming is easy as fuck, it's not like the other skills where you grind for hours, just plant the damn things and let them grow, then click on them and you get XP.

and as for the farming minigame (tithe farm), it's only worth it for the auto-weed upgrade (very fast to get) it makes it that once you rake a farming patch, weed never grows on them again and the other useful reward is the herb sack but it's only for slayer tasks, the seed box is not worth it in my opinion, i've done tons of slayer but never had an use for it.

and do barbarian farming miniquest, it allows you to plant seeds without a seed dibber, one less thing in your inventory.
and always use ultracompost on herbs and trees.

for XP, place highest lvl animal you can place in pens, feed them (if meat > raw beef, if they can eat flowers > woad leaves you can get by packs of 10 000 at the falador gardener for 25 coins each).

- main farm : 2 small pens of crystal chins with both parents have three traits and all traits on Studly, favorite parents (click on small star) to avoid accidentaly selling them, do the same for dinosaurs) > feed woad leaves. sell their produce.
nothing else on main farm appart from crystal chins is worth it for money (except planting a money tree when you get seeds)

end game dino farm :
- 1 small pen with salamanders in it, sell to buyer guy nearby and buy all 6 lizards from granny, no needs for breeding and traits bullshit > feed woad leaves. sell their produce.
- medium pens useless when lvl 120, ignore
- 2 big pens with 2 parents with 3 traits on studly with Pavosaurus Rex dinos > feed raw beef. sell produce (the big bucks)

you can reroll traits by buying trait rerolls from granny (for beans, no coins), do this for studly x3 and just on parent breeding animals that have the 3 trait slots unlocked.

you can put spiders and let them elder on the main farm for extra DPS against all spides in the game including Arraxor.

some of my most fun in leagues is running up to the fight caves day 1 or 2 in the shittiest rag gear i've ever seen and beating him up over the course of like an hour or two. i did it with a rcb and like a little bit of prayer gear, maybe a power amulet. it was a lot harder in demonic pacts than last years because the pacts for ranged were really top heavy.

food eating creates a delay before you can accomplish an action (attacking or eating for example) and it is intentional.
the server works by 0.6 seconds actions, and on the side of your game client it is in milliseconds.
so every attack actually has a delay of 0.6 seconds or more (1 tick =0.6s) and the game is balanced around that since the beginning, like how 2H swords have a 7 ticks attack speed (so 4.2s).
food incurs a tick delay, like a shark = 3 ticks before you can attack, a sara brew = 0 ticks delay but a karambwan is a 2 ticks delay.
the only way to eat more instantly is to eat a food like a shark (incurs 3 ticks delay) then a saradomin brew (potion) then a karambwan (fish that is a combo food, incurs 2 ticks delay), you can do it all in one tick if you're fast enough (triple eating) but your next attack will be delayed by 5 ticks now.

and obviously if you click a second food like eating a shark then instantly trying to eat it again not only the second shark will not heal you but it will not disappear from your inventory because you tried to eat during the 3 ticks delay so it won't let you do it, this is normal.

the combat is plain but quite intricate actually. Both players can protect against one combat style at a time, so its all about hitting your opponent with a style he isn't protecting against (as shown with the symbol over his head). You change your attack style by switching to the relative gear set which in itself is actually quite difficult. Its legit more difficult than traditional fighting games. Just because the characters aren't flying around and doing kicking & punching animations all the time doesn't mean there isn't alot going on, its just very difficult to see if you've never played before.

meh, i really liked it, i'm lvl 88 right now and i've done all the exploration (really liked this), all the marlin rank course (without grinding, altough the crystal course was harder for marlin rank) and i've done lots of salvaging for the museum kudos rare items.
otherwise i've done some combat with the cannons, desu they really messed this up but they did try to fix it, the real problem currently is that there's no good gameplay loot for ship combat, it doesn't give good loot and doesn't give good XP, it's slow and it's just firing at the same mob again and again with no variation.
once they truly fix ship combat, sailing will be more interesting.

i'v killed tons of frost dragons too during the gold rush, made 100M with them lol
but the skill has tons of potential, huge exploration, maybe new mini-adventures gameplay loops or something, there's so much potential.

The bosses are designed around this, it's even stated as such in each of their fucking releases, the guides, the wiki. They leaned into the niche community that found interesting bugs that allowed the depth of bosses and gameplay to be expanded. You can deny it all you want, but it's how jagex is actively developing. Gonna go cancel my account today, this thread convinced me. You'll see that jagex has been and is ever increasingly running away a core player ase for autistic and obsessive types. Beyond all this bs shit takes too long and I'm over 1750 total. Not worth playing if you're an adult.

You must be doing something wrong. Most people don't prayer flick bosses because you risk getting 1 shot if you miss it.
