Then slowly throughout second red flag was that PS4 patching got so fucking excessive, that console games had to update more frequently than PC titles. Then we get to the PS5 era and third PS+ price increased and it's like $100 for online/co-op while gaslighting you that you're getting "free games" as a justification. A bunch of games are always online, you're constantly patching games, every time I boot up the console I need to update the firmware, and then the straw that broke the camel's back was a couple years back when I turned on the console after not being able to play and first the console forced me to update the firmware, to force me to update the controller firmware, to update the game, to update the controller firmware. At the point I was being forced to update THE FUCKING CONTROLLER I was done. Took a couple grand and built a new PC because my last build was getting pretty outdated since it was from 2012, and packed up the console. Bro the ONLY selling point consoles had was that they're less tedious and required less engagement. At the point that balance tilted and PC became less of a chore to play on, the console instantly shifted into shittier PC with less control, customization, and choice.

That's why Nintendo got sued with the Joycons. As potentiometer fails you start getting drift, missed inputs, phantom inputs, misinputs, etc...That's why hall effect controllers are such a big deal for anyone serious about gaming, hall effect potentiometers don't use a contact sensor, they use magnetic field sensors, which makes the sensor itself virtually immune to physical wear and things like drift.
