You call that a video game? THIS is a video game

I liked when games bundled their whole series together like this. Mario All-Stars is another all time goty.
>>
That's two games, idiot.

Being real most of the maps in both of these games are pretty shit.
Doom Act 1 and Doom 2's first 7 levels are the only good parts of both games.

when people talk about "maze-like levels" those are all almost exclusively in e2

>tfw still get lost in e2m7 after opening the blue door
i just skip it if i'm not doing 100% kills

I'm of the option that the general map quality is better then it has any right to be, considering the level designers didn't really have any reference point (especially in the case of doom1). A good portion of doom 2 levels was trying to be much larger scale then most Doom 1, this was mostly done as a selling point and to utilize the increase of computing power of the average computer. The thing is that isn't much harder to design good large scale levels in doom then smaller scale ones.

Doom E4 is a mixed bag and honestly a lot worse than it could be. I attribute this mostly to inexperienced mappers and a bit laziness.

E1&2 are good, E3 is actual shit and E4 is a rollercoaster in quality
Space stations levels (1-11) and the city levels (12-20) are good, and hell levels (21-30) are bad except 27, 28, 29 are great

Doom 2 has better levels than Doom 1

>Tricks and Traps
>Refueling Base
>O of Destruction
>The Inmost Dens
>Gotcha!
>The Chasm
>Monster Condo
>and especially The Living End
All kino. Also Shores of Hell is fine and Inferno at least has Mt. Erebus.

I remember even back in 2018, people were calling this guy a horrible person for daring to make a hentai mod of Doom. It kind of reminds me of the german guy that made that Half Life 2 mod years prior and also got an insane amount of flak and death threats just because he changed the way Alyx looked. People have a really weird hatred for people that make sexualized mods in their own free time.

whens the arachnotron update

So wait, there’s Doom 1, 2, 3 and 64? What happened to Doom 4 - 63!
>>
>>741772530
True. They're also waaaay too easy
>>
>>741775312
Then they skipped to the 2016th game, which I frankly don't understand at all
>>
>>741774297
This unironically has the most fun chaingun replacement I've seen in a Doom wad.
>>
>>741772530
Doom 1 E2 is its best part. It's E3 that completely drops the ball.
Likewise the last 5 maps of D2 are pretty good as well by 1994 standards.

Remember this also includes TNT, Plutonia, No Rest for the Living, Sigil 1 and 2, the new episode, and a shit load of mods. You can play for 100 + hours without ever replaying a level (not including multiplayer).

Peak release, also Plutonia has the best level design from the guy who made the TF2 maps

>also Plutonia has the best level design
Truke, although I think everyone who gives it a fair shot and isn't immediately filtered by the chaingunner traps in Congo naturally comes to the same conclusion.
