Cowards calling for higher res instead of higher quality. Can't confine them to period of birth and life. They are a pest found in foolishness. If anything they're educated. Filled with shit instead of standards.

do millenials really prefer the top one it looks ugly and flat

Where's the fog? I don't know what to focus on without fog or extensive blurriness.

Doom is better than Quake, and Doom wasn't my first fps coping lil zoomie
>>

I’m first?
Okay
>>
No, it isnt. It's almost like a lost art. Games today have so much visual noise it gets difficult to immediately see what's actually relwvant/important.
>>
>>741772319
The pillar of autumn is the ugliest part of the game, I never liked it with it's oddly bland textures but I don't like the bottom either, they overdid everything like everywhere else.
>>
>>741772572
my first fps was wolfenstein3d and halo is a good game.
>>
>>741771917
No. Modern models are produced in asset farms, often with very little direction for how they will appear in game or during gameplay, sometimes even with textures and topology that just do not like the chosen style or method of lighting.
There is so little communication that yellow paint is the only consistent way you can prevent deliberate visual signposting from being used interchangeably for game relevant objects and background filler, because if even the retarded playtesters can figure it out, then the retarded outsourcers can avoid fucking it up.
>>
>>741771917
No.

Fuck no. Shit was archaic, slow and boring already 25 years ago.

Contrast is nice in everything from visuals to sounds to feelings. Like to be happy you need to also be sad, if you just make it all happy then the happy will become invisible.

Bungie couldn’t balance the guns for shit in any of the Halos

Now try it on the Covenant ship levels.

I dunno, can you post a proper comparison and not this blurry shit?

A lot of parts in CE genuinely look better in the original. Just look at the swamp area where you face the flood, it's completely lit up in the anniversary shader. In the original it is dark and gloomy, which clearly was the intended atmosphere for that level.
>>
with advancements in lighting and subtle surface break up the trend of over greebling is kind of dated desu, you don't need to do it to make environments stand out anymore.

CEA is not a bad remaster merely because it is bad. It is a bad remaster, because it mixes peaks and valleys of skill and incompetence in aesthetics, muddying the overall package.

I have spoken.
>>
>>741771917
>top
>clear visual hints, clean look, easy to identify structure, level layout readable

>darkness everywhere. Level layout, visual readability obscured by heavy shadows and textures that are too samey no matter it you are looking at the ground, walls or ceiling

This. It's the only part that looks better redone with "muh fidelity"

The problem is the rest of the game is ruined by it

No. Trying to play Battlefield 6 online from my couch and trying to tell the enemies apart from the environment was impossible. Especially with the dark camos
>>
>>741779082
this, i also played it on my PS5 (it was free) so the resolution and shit graphics did it no favor. but the autoexposure and volumetric lighting plaguing modern games did NOT belong in battlefield
>>
>>741771917
It's just good game design
>>
>>741778946
Halo was fun because apart from creating a new sub shooter genre, it did several new things that other shooters weren't doing at the time including
>strategy behind 2 weapons
>huge levels and vehicles
>friendly allies to coordinate with or coop
>swarm enemies
Before Halo, it was pretty much Doom clones (Quake, Unreal, Hexen) without a story or Goldeneye clones (Perfect Dark, Timesplitters) that were super anal on objectives.
>>
>>741779326
the dirty goggles shit they did in 3/4 was also awful
i wear glasses and i don't understand why normfags like lens effects, i have to live with them. games where the main character has obviously working binocular vision and yet the player camera has extreme depth of field are strange too.

physiological normatives should be rounded up and herded into camps tbqh

The grit in BF6 doesn't help either. It's funny because BF1, V or 2042 didn't have that problem despite having good, realistic graphics. Reason being because they had a good art style and not generic grit. And it's even more funnier the fans were begging for better graphics and grit. Now you need SOVIS assist kek.

all the quake games including q3a have a story. doom has a story, albeit a thin one.
unreal has a story, huge maps, and was largely the inspiration for halo's campaign.
goldeneye/pc/ts and ut99 were the direct inspiration for halo's multiplayer and you can tell that the people who made halo played and enjoyed those other games and wanted to be inspired by them, they didn't just make halo in a vacuum like games are made today.
for me, it's the halo 1 vr mod.
>>
>>741779776
I started doing so much better when they turned that on so I'll take the assist

I would say so. But really, you are just trading one thing for another. So "visual clarity" for maybe more immersive (or just different) aesthetic design.
Subjective.

I was trying out picrel and was thinking how sick a Halo game would be with the same mechanics. You get to pick your loadout down to the minute addons for your helmet and armor, you have to manually cock and hammer, and you have to actively manage your magazines as physical objects and not just drop them willy nilly. A realistic ODST guerilla simulator would be the tightest shit, especially if you had the ability to command a squad and give positioning orders.
>>
There's a reason every games have yellow paint now.

>>741773474
That image perfectly encapsulates everything I hate about modern graphics
>>
>>741779776
BFV absolutely had that problem, they literally had to do multiple iterations of fixing the character lighting, and adding rim light to players because they blended in like crazy with the environment.
Every Battlefield game has had visibility problems and it has taken multiple attempts to fix.
They make the same mistakes every release.

>enemies stand out

It's gaming vs movies.
>>
>>741790497
>gaming vs movies
It's ironic considering Bungie's vision for Halo, and games as a whole, was as interactive movies.
