Last time I bought a PC game physically I took it home only to find out i could not even play it unless I downloaded this thing called "steam"
Then subsequently downloaded steam only to find I had to download the entire game and the disc was just a fucking frisbee.

Now its console only players turn to feel that rage.

Now if you somehow manage to buy a physical PC release that even has a disc inside it's just a link to steam on it. They used to put data on the disc at some point, I checked it was there, but frankly I don't even know how you make steam use it, and it's probably all obsolete day 1 after release anyway not to mention for games that had a lot of updates and DLC over time.
I haven't had an optical drive in my PC for years. Also what kind of drive, last time I actually tried it was a DVD but any modern game would have to be on like 6 disks on something because of how bloated it is and I don't think having a bluray drive in a PC ever caught on, they became obsolete before they got cheap enough to buy and didn't have much use case. Everyone on PC was already downloading games on steam and if you still watched movies off disk instead of streaming you probably had a console or a dedicated player rather than hooking up a PC to the TV,

I am fine with digital games and while I am not a poorfag anymore so dont resell my games to make bucks back and dont pirate, in my eyes when i have bought even a dic, I bought a license and "own" that game so even pirating is good. Because no matter what, disc or digital, or we are ever buying is a license.

The luddites I see who cant let go of physical cannot even grab the idea they dont own the game let alone every game is digital now regardless of if you own a disc.
