The Steam Machine will kill Japanese eroge. This isn't good. PC with discs have been dying, but a system with Steam preinstalled and integrated will also kill DMM and DLSite.
Steam censors Japanese eroge. In matter of fact, Steam censors Japanese console games. For example, Compile Heart's Tokyo Clanpool was banned and Koei Tecmo's Ar Nosurge DX's CG was censored.

Valve did their market research. /v/ posters seem to forget that there is a huge segment of people that are so technically illiterate that their only view of the online world is through a smartphone. lol? Anyway, many people in Asia with a lot of money in CS2 will use Steam hardware to make money, even by reselling it below its price (around $900). They are still stocked in Hong Kong. Hong Konger are major cheapstakes that they won't touch a hair on this. Mainlanders are too poor and just waiting for local competitor for much cheaper price. Mainland electronic market is actually extremely competitive, goods with corner cut thousands times are often sell at loss just for the market share . Stock are shown differently at locations and they are only sold out in Japan and Taiwan. This can be easily verified with VPN. And it is reasonable since they have much higher population. Japanese custom pc market is always struggling because of importer, leading parts being relatively more expensive. Weak yen also didn't help. So gablecube is somewhat appealing to them.

The victus were sold out at my local micro center, they got more in stock today. A deal just ended for $900 5060 acer nitros at target too yesterday.
5060 laptops are usually around 1100-1300, but they very often go on sale. I got a 5060 legion 5 for like $800 a few months ago for on the go.

are modern goyim too retarded to use a computer?
>>
>>741800747
Case is about 70 EUR, a PSU is 70 EUR, GFX is 340 EUR, CPU is 110 EUR with box cooler, SSD is 60 bucks for a turd, 170 EUR for MEM, 130 EUR for the cheapest ASRock crap motherboard. Total 950 EUR.
999 EUR is close to cost, but I picked some of the cheapest crap I could find for any component that wasn't the case and PSU to get there. I wouldn't want that. Rather pay more to build something better. I can't imagine the component choice is premium.
>>
>>741784775
After the price reveal, most buyers will be in it for the aesthetic or novelty. MiniPCs and SBCs may be smaller but they are still weaker (for GPU heavy tasks). ITX builds perform better but are bigger and more power hungry. It also has the whole faceplate gimmick.
It's also easier to sell a novelty if it's small.
>>
>>741786761
They're currently fighting multiple lawsuits that alledge anti-competitive practices. Subsidizing their product could look bad in court.
>>
>>741802091
It's probably thrice the power of a steam machine.
>>
>>741803147
They wouldn't do it even it looked good, because it's a retarded thing to do.
>>
>>741775679
Try 10k.
>>
>>741803767
I don't give a shit, I'm saying that I wouldn't want to build it like that because it'd be too awful for reasons other than performance. Like for example, the box cooler if that is actually what would be used. It's SHIT. So is the graphics card, cheap 9070s are loud as fuck.
>>
>>741803785
It's an effective strategy in some scenarios, but risky. Microsoft and Sony have done it to varying degrees, but they also have advantages when it comes to procurement.
>>
>>741804262
It's an effective strategy when you have a way to lock down your hardware so nobody can use it for unintended purposes.
>>
>>741804262
Those kind of strategies are usually done with the intention of making the products or services worse/more expensive later. This is why you have people complaining about sony or xbox for raising the price of things like PSN/gamepass, peripherals. A lot of what people call enshittification is really more like subsidies being taken away and prices moving to ensure profitability.
>>
>>741792353
There's a lot of problems that may occur with a person's bite later in life that may require braces (especially with no previous orthodontic treatment), it's usually not purely aesthetically driven. Though I can't comment on why he's wearing them.

I tried to build it too and got 977$ without the case.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bRHzPf

I'm starting to think this price is quite fair considering the optimal airflow and the engineering they did so its easier to fix/modify.
>>
>>741785745
>>741787883
You are very stupid, anon. SteamOS is just a version of Linux. It's entirely possible to install anything onto it that you can run on Linux. Go back.
>>
>>741812059
Eroge doesn't sell.
>>
>>741813873
Are you talking about the Steam Machine price? It's bad when you are looking for performance, because the one you built is significantly better performing. 9060 XT is a LOT more powerful. If you could build the exact system I posted at 1337 USD, you'd be a lot happier with the performance compared to a Steam Machine. However, yes, in terms of thermal engineering and form factor the price isn't unfair, because it's very hard to make a small PC. There are lots of sacrifices you have to make.
Getting better performance here isn't free.

i wouldnt worry, valve doesnt even have enough hardware to make these consoles the most steam decks they sold in its lifetime was around 5 million, thats LIFETIME

the wii u sold triple that in less time and was seen as a flop. so when you see sold out, its just valve struggling to make a normal amount of consoles it would be at most in the thousands not millions and it will stagnate WELL before then

its like the entire process of creating scarcity to seem as though you are doing much better than you appear
