No discount for previous owners? Oh brother.
>>
>>741777968
Long story short: the original English publisher died and the English rights went back to the original dev who by some miracle was still interested on working on it. And now the English and Japanese version are unified.

>>741778029
>>741778009
You probably got the old English version that was published by Carpe Fulgur. This is the original dev's listing on Steam which used to be JP-only but now it also includes English, while CF's was delisted.
>>
>>741777463
Wasn't it out for a while? I remember the JP only version getting an English option a few months back, the reason being the EN publisher/localizer dying and thus releasing the rights to the EN script.

Anyway, is this worth playing for an Atelier fan? Been following this for a while, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
>>
>>741778191
Is the JP version censored like the carpe fulgur release?
>>
>>741778373
>did they add the 2 pixels of towels in the hot spring scene
do you really care about that? like how pathetic are you?

there's a scene where the lolis are poking out of the water at a hot spring, the localizer added literally 2 pixels of towels to make it less suggestive

They were embarrassed by it. They were the same guys that were doing the Trails in the Sky games and probably the Senran Kagura games with Xsneed. Liszoft previously mentioned that they would need to release this version, and they probably never planned to do it. I wonder if the game has a new translation?

If you have to ask this question you shouldn't be in the thread. Realistically you shouldn't be posting on /v/ in the first place, lurk at least two weeks before posting next time.
>>
>>741781401
it's input buffering, but oh well. 99% players switched out to another character to let AI control Arche.
>>
>>741778373
I've been playing in JP and got the uncensored CG. Can't say 100% for sure about the English version, but I took a look at the files using some old ass file extractors that were made for the game a decade ago and I don't see the censored CG anywhere in the files anymore. The English version uses the same files as the JP version, and just has some extras of its own for English-only images like the menus and logos. Compared it to CF's version to be sure and it's not where it was in their version and has the uncensored version instead.
>>
Oh great so I just get to go fuck myself and buy the game again

>>741783589
The Physical Japanese version has voice acting, but there's some issue with licensing fees, so it's not on Steam.

A bit unrelated, but I'm still mad that Bunny Must Die was delisted because the devs were going to publish the updated version themselves, but they never did.
It was one of the doujin games that were localized around the same time as Fortune Summoners after the success of Recettear.
>>
>>741777463
>Deluxe
Not quite. This doesn't contain the voice acting that the JP edition does, BUT you can easily patch that in by simply dropping the files in if I recall. You might have to then play in Japanese only.

The Steam version of Bunny also supported widescreen, I own it. It's vert- though, it just cuts off top and bottom, which sucks in a platformer, as it makes it harder to see spikes and shit. But you can just switch back to 4:3 in the options.

I only know that abbreviation in the context of those virtual input systems. I'm pretty sure my win10 installation is a Japanese version so I never bothered to install one of these locale tools that were always recommended in vn threads if that's what you mean.

thanks for uploading it but looks like all the audio data is in the dlls which I'm sure you understand I'm hesitant to just put in my steam installation considering they are from here.

There's also a lot of difference in what dlls there are and in what size. Like some are missing or larger on the deluxe, some are missing or larger on the steam release. I would be surprised if it just worked by copying the ones that the steam version does not have.
>>
>>741798861
Try on a VM? I doubt the dlls are going to have anything sketchy though.
>>
>>741795696
How are you "pretty sure", you can't immediately tell? You tried playing a JP game without the proper language pack installed, so the UTF got messed up is most likely what happened.

I remember this being the game that for the first time made me think "I should make a game of my own". I can confirm that this works, I tested it myself when I bought the Steam version (I had already bought the Deluxe seiyuu version from Rakuten, or someone else uploaded the seiyuu version and I applied it to Rakuten's copy, don't remember).
>>
>>741799518

>>
>>741799941

>>741799397
I'm only "pretty sure" because I haven't used Windows seriously in over a decade and only use that installation for the occasional old vn that doesn't want to play nice on wine. It's completely in Japanese, has the builtin Japanese input methods and works fine with other old jp games, so I would assume it's set up correctly

>>741785319
The publishing contract was really really weird and the jist of it was that they couldn't release BMD on newer platforms without cancelling the contract, cuz practically everyone at RA who made it possible got headhunted by bigger companies.
So there was really nothing malicious going on, but it put the dev in a really bullshit situation.
