It is objectively the best Zelda game.

Doesn't have one one millionth of the soul of Ocarina of Time.

I can't wait for summer to be over.

I can't wait for gen x and older millenials to die.

Cool, now let's hear it from someone who didn't get his opinion from a youtuber.
>>
>>741780202
I got my opinion from I owned link to the past and ocarina of time as a kid
>>
>>741780202
Shitting on OoT is popular among YouTubers though because being contrarian gets views.
>>
>>741779451
Both have soul. LTTP is a bit more timeless because the graphics aged better. OoT is a bit clunky in terms of the camera and graphics, but still totally playable. It could use some quality of life improvements, like the iron boots were annoying. The combat is not bad at all and you can do more than people think with it.
>>
>>741779451
The biggest issue I had with LTTP was that it was easy as shit. OOT actually has a few moments that challenge you in ways that LTTP never does.
>>
>>741779451
Objectively the greatest video game.
>>
I just replayed LttP recently, and while it's still a great game the dungeon quality is pretty uneven, some of them are pretty bad and the puzzles get really samey after a while, which holds it back from being as good as OoT. This was the first Zelda to really do puzzles so I suppose it's to be expected.
>>
>>741779451
>It is objectively the best Zelda game.
Not a very high bar
>>
>>741780706
I'm curious to hear what you think is challenging in OoT. Because I actually feel the opposite. Having struggled more with A link to the past.

The most sovlfvl Zelda game is picrel thougheverbeitdesu
I'm not kidding
>>
>>741781019
I enjoyed that game but it is far from the most soulful
>>
>>741780524
The combat is still incredibly fun despite it's simplicity, way better than a lot of soulslikes being released.
>>
>>741780987
Same, enemies routinely to two hearts worth of damage in LttP starting from the Dark World and its somewhat janky collisions mean there's less room for error, no sure how anyone would call OoT harder when the only enemy that hits that hard are the iron knuckles.
>>
>>741781242
I think LTTP borrowed a bit of the tougher combat from the first Zelda game. It could be challenging but it was possible to get good at it.
>>
>>741779451
People usually tries to compare each Zelda with easily measureble things, but that way of comparing can miss a lot of things because imo a lot of what makes Oot shines is small details, like NPCs dialogues, the cinematography of cutscenes (a lot of this), the significance and utility of getting each item, the impact of the story and lore on the player (and this is huge), the frequency of when you're getting rewards or not, the feeling of interactivity of the world and the player, and the effect of music. Music, for example, can be discussed beyond than "Oot music is better" or "Oot have way more good OSTs". What about the motifs? The way the songs were orchestrated to manipulate your feelings? The utility and paychological impacts of using sound effects and songs in certain parts of the game? And that is even only a small fraction of what you can discuss to compare this game. What I love about this game is that when you observe attentively to it you can see love for the details, and a lot of "small" details like that can have a huge impact in the player in a way that few people notice. Of course this can be applied to a lot of games too, but I think this game (and a lot of old games desu) is very special in this case.

The Oracle games are the best games in the series
>>
There is only one bad Zelda game, and that is Spirit Tracks.

No, Zelda 2 was not bad at all, and your hatred for it pains me because it's stopped Nintendo ever trying to make another like it.
>>
>>741782974
Phantom Hourglass was good though. If it weren't held back by its terrible controls, I think it would be pretty up there.
>>
>>741779708
this is literally how opinions on video games and other subjective media work you retard
>>
>>741779451
The issues with OOT are the combat and handholding. LTTP is a much more of a puzzle box, while OOT is a little more similar to modern waypoint gaming.
>>
>>741783704
I don't think zelda games have soul, they are hyperproducts and exist to house no creative vision or personality.

never could get past the beginning of this game, always looked so boring

I beat LttP recently and started OoT right after, after not having touched either game in years, and I can say with confidence LttP clears OoT.

I actually installed the ship of harkinian port for android last night, and it's incredible. I'm playing the game with HD textures, with a controller, plus a bunch of (optional) quality of life, from the comfort of my phone.

Playing it again reminded me of how groundbreaking it was back then. The sense of adventure and mystery in the game world, the grim and cheerful aesthetics. The charm of all its characters. The music... The deku tree and Saria cinematics were top tier and very emotional.

It also reminded me how games didn't hold your hand. At the very beginning you're told to find a shield and a sword, and even though it's very easy to do so, you're never told where to go, you have to explore. Even as a kid in the 90s, the game respected your abilities and let you explore and solve things by yourself. If you're really adventurous, you can even venture into the lost woods and find one of the adult-era enemies within the first 30 min of the game and die. I love it

Playing it again made me realize it not only holds up to this day, but that it has never been overrated. It is a soulful masterpiece

Agreed >>741787163

I didn't appreciate the game's cinematography up until now
>>
>>741787163
Pure nostalgia. The opening alone is a total slog, especially compared to LttP.
>>
>>741787330
Nah, there's too much to list if I want to expand everything I said. I just wanted to add that there's a lot to discuss if you want to see why Oot is so impactful for so many people. I'm too lazy to do it tho.

I especially like the sequence of cutscenes in the ending, it's just masterfully crafted. Beginning on the first stage of the Ganondorf fight through the last panel of the Master Sword in the end. It's just too good.

Also the intro of the game is like art. And the cutscene of Ganondorf kidnapping Zelda. All of the Sheik scenes too. The game makes sure all of the cutscenes serves more than to deliver instructions and messages to the player.

I agree that LttP cut to the action faster than OoT, but my first time playing Zelda was fairly recent (5 years ago, I think?), and my first time then was still a good experience.

3D Nintendo games suck fat dicks. It's not even a top 5 Zelda game.

also the only zelda without a Kondo soundtrack, and is also the best soundtrack of the franchise

>I especially like the sequence of cutscenes in the ending,
So far I have only revisited three scenes

>Intro
Feels like a dynamic painting to me, though the music carries it hard.

>Flashback as kid Link featuring Ganon
They play with a lot of angles and lighting to make Ganon look like a menace. Very cool

>Goodbye scene with Saria
Scenic overview of the bridge before Link leaves. Close-ups on Saria's expressions. No music, just silence. You only talked to Saria like twice in-game up until that point, yet they made you feel like you were really leaving a whole life behind. Very emotional

>>741788812

They're just different experiences. 2D doesn't compare to 3D here

Why are the PC Port modders so fucking lazy?

Why are they still using sprites?

Why even waste their time creating this "HD" abomination

Why can't they create an actual 3D model of the bridge and the handles? This looks like shit
>>
>>741794514
Looks passable to me, anon. Stop being so grumpy

The reasons I am guessing are
>It's easier to create textures rather than creating new models
>they don't get paid for it and couldn't, even if they wanted to, since that'd be illegal
