also, why would you heat it?

It is, and the only thing worse than having a chunk of rebar in your chest, is having a red hot chunk of rebar in your chest.

>Super heated rebar

I feel like the heating was overkill.

They had to explain why it blows up the barrels
>>
>>741784476
This wouldn't work irl, right? Not even talking about heating, rebar is heavy as shit, it shouldn't shoot far at all.
>>
>>741784828
That's if you get hit in the chest, won't it being hot just cauterize the wound if you get hit in your limbs?
>>
>>741785813
why does that matter
>>
>>741785963
A red hot chunk of metal in you body is a red hot chunk of metal in you body, cauterization doesn't magically heal you.
>>
>>741785813
With a hand set crossbow, hell no. You'd need a rediculously powerful one, and that would require a cranequine to set. A bigger problem is that the rebar would not fly true, that shit would flip like a bitch.

True that, that's why arrows need to be balanced and have fletching.
>>
>>741785813
The heating is ironically the most realistic part. The crossbow would use inductive heating.
>>
>>741785813
It actually can heat up, but it wouldn't even be able to penetrate anything because rebar that hot would just bend on contact

Given the sparks when you set it in the rail, it's pretty clearly using resistive heating. Which is kinda stupid, because it's iron, and while not the best conductor it's still pretty good. Your idea would be better, but both solutions would require a backpack battery to be feasible, and the induction hardware would add even more bulk.

At least it wasn't a suit power mechanic.

oh for sure realistically that thing is just going to clatter on the ground 30ft in front of you, after launching up at a 45 degree angle
