Usually, all these consumables and potions are just a crutch for beginners.If a game requires you to use them, you just use them without asking why or what for (like the Elixirs of Hill Giant Strength in BG3, for example), and if the game doesn't require them, then there's no point in using them at all.All this junk exists to help you out if you're struggling, but if you're doing fine, you don't need it.
