>villain is evil because… he doesn’t send his entire army to get needlessly slaughtered
seemed like a good idea at the time
>>741785402>Villain sends his entire army to get needlessly slaughtered
>>741785402>hated french people more than genocidal mutate orcs that want to kill literally everythingHe was wrong, but its hard to hate him for it.
>>741785402Pretty sure it's more the "let your allies get slaughtered while they think you have their back" that's bad. Betrayal is bad.
>>741786208its literally the warden's fault for taking too long to light the signal fire because by then the battle was already lost
Dragon Age Origins was a bad game. I hated how ugly it looked. I hated the real time with pause combat. I hated the camera that never looked where you needed it to look. I hated that you couldn’t position your party before engaging enemies. I hated the Day 1 DLC unlocks. I hated the utterly generic grim dark story.
>>741785790>tranny safe racism
>>741785402He killed his son-in-law, a bunch of troops and Grey Wardens for no real big gain>>741785783That's russophobic degenerate globohomo western NATO propaganda. Russki army still 2nd best in the world!
>>741786492proving him right with that buzzword outburst, pierre
It's funny that you can still argue about the motivations of DAO antagonists but the setting was demolished so hard no constructive discussion about the sequels is even possible.
>>741785402>villain is evil because he sends people to get needlessly slaughtered because the literal end of the world is less important than their posture with the French We was a retard and a pseud
>>741785402>villain is evil because the illuminati time jannies corrupted him
>>741785434Iean technically this. At the time Ferelden still had an icy relationship with the Orlesians and wasting their troops against the darkspawn horde would leave them exposed to an invasion. I read thisove as Loghain getting rid of Cailan's influence over the realm because, in Loghains mind, Cailan was weakening them by glory-hounding.
>>741785402>he doesn’t send his entire army to get needlessly slaughteredbut he does
>>741786450>hated how ugly it looked.I liked the artistic choice of low-poly with a muted color palette; it made for a darker and gritty atmosphere while helping to keep the resource bloat low.>I hated the real time with pause combat.I liked that you were able to stratergize in the middle of combat. Also you didn't have to use it as much if you set up the the strategies for your party beforehand.>I hated that you couldn’t position your party before engaging enemies.I'll grant you this one, especially on console.>I hated the Day 1 DLC unlocks.I'll also grant you this, it's one ofy main gripes with modern Vidya as a whole. Solid criticism.>I hated the utterly generic grim dark story.I love the grimdark setting. Guess it's a matter of flavor.
>>741786561>proving him right with that buzzword outburst, pierre
>>741787146>and wasting their troops against the darkspawn horde would leave them exposed to an invasionRead this again carefully. There is a contradiction here.
>>741787759They'd been fighting the darkspawn for a long time at that point; they'd get hit, hold their ground, and the darkspawn would eventually retreat back into the underdark. There was no real indicator that they were facing a real blight at that point in time, but Cailan chose to expose his army to needless dangers by sallying forth instead of playing the defensive game.
>ask about any game that has mods:>any essential/mandatory mods?>answer is always no, even for Skyrim case>except for DAO>dog not wasting a party slot mod
>>741787967But Anon, there was an invasion coming. There was a blight coming. I forgot the faggot's name, but he did fucked up and left the kingdom open for invasion, trying to keep the kingdom from being invaded.
>>741788137>But Anon, there was an invasion coming. There was a blight coming. But they.didnt.know.that.For all they knew, and Cailan even said so himself, there was no real indicator that it was a true blight. Even Duncan says that he has no real confirmation, only a feeling.
>>741788264>But they.didnt.know.that.No, Anon. They choose NOT to believe in that. There were all the signs in the world that a blight was coming.
>>741788334>There were all the signs in the world that a blight was coming.Such as?
>>741788379The fucking warden boss telling you a blight is coming.
>>741788117
>>741785402I don't care if he's evil. He tried to kill me, so he dies.
>>741788450>The fucking warden boss telling you a blight is comingAgain, he didn't. Go back and replay the prologue again. All he said is that he suspects. Look at it again from someone like Loghain; he acts on hard facts, and he's been a military commander for decades. He works with the available information at hand, and what he KNOWS .The gray wardens SUSPECT there might be an arch demon involved yet cannot confirm it AT THAT POINT.Loghain knows that the Orlesians are an active threat to be guarded against. He needs to make a judgement call in order to preserve his fighting strength. In hindsight it was the wrong choice, but in the moment he Madea VALID choice by acting upon the information he had AT THE TIME.
>>741788957Bro, the entire elite of the wardens gathered in the same place. It means they believe it's a blight coming. The fucking prince (the guy betrayed and killed) knew to trust the wardens (up to the point of making him look less heroic). Like, you were recruited to the wardens because they are so afraid of the blight coming, because they can feel it coming.
>>741789098>believeAgain, they couldn't confirm it at the time. Really go back and play the game, I'm going off of the in game lore here and not just emotions. The wardens never say "This IS a blight" to anyone in command, not Loghain or Cailan; they only speculate. Also remember that the wardens at that point in time were not seen as a respected order by most in Ferelden, mainly due to their (the wardens) historical connection with Orlais. Cailan respects the warden due to his father, King Maric, making an alliance with the Ferelden chapter, yet the rest of the nobility, including and especially Loghain, still harbours suspicious towards them mainly due to the southern chapter's connection to Orlais. He made his judgement call from that political viewpoint, not from the inside viewpoint we as a player get.
>>741789819>Again, they couldn't confirm it at the time. What else you want? A picture of the orc army marching forward? The guy fucked up. He got his prince killed. He lost the prince's army for no gain AND left the entire flank wide open for the blight. >But but but he didn't le know!He was told over and over again. He decided not to believe to gain power. He salivated at the thought of killing the prince to get more power for himself.
>>741790028You're just regurgitating the same talking points I've already answered. It's clear you're not reading what I'm trying to explain, and we're not going to get anywhere with this. You win, have a good day.
>>741790173Go fellate the moron you like so much.
>>741786450odds are this anon is a panfaced chinkoid who plays garbage jarpigs
>>741786386Loghain was planning to ignore it, anyways. The Grey Wardens being responsible for the beacon was unexpected, because it was initially going to be his men (or potentially the tower mages under Uldred, who was in league with Loghain by this point). It's implied he's the reason the Darkspawn swarm the tower (his men are digging into tunnels under the tower when you first get to Ostagar), he was already making moves to coup the king beforehand (Eamon's forces are delayed because he's already been poisoned), and most importantly:>if he could actually see the field of battle well enough to know that the battle was lost, why would they even need the signal to know when to charge in the first place? the entire point was that his forces were in hiding and couldn't seeIt wasn't a case of Loghain thinking the battle was lost so he would just decide to betray the king and cause a total coup. He had been premeditating it for a while.
>>741786581So funny how we can talk about DAO all these years later but there's nothing to say about 2 onwards lmfao
>>741785402He's evil because he did it not to save his army or any other strategic reason, but to seize power for himself.
>>741786450Name some games you do like :)
GLORIOUS
>>741785402>spare him>he's the biggest bro party member in the DLCnggghhhh.... so fvcking..... kino...... ngghhh
>>741788117Mage + dog is the most mechanically fun way to play the game, same for Kingmaker and smilodon sylvan sorc.
>>741786529that's why his name is low gain
>>741785402Absolute kino fucking game, beat like 8 times with different origins.Btw literally only now I get the meaning of "origins" in DA:O lol.Anyway is there anything similar to this kino setting or at least gameplay? I actually don't remember if I played Awakening or not, and I heard DA 2 and onwards is shit
>>741786450It's the last good game bioware made, chud. The gameplay is pretty meh, but that's the case for all RPGs. At least it leans into it with things like the customizable combat logic, a feature which all isometric RPGs should have and which none of them have because they're all made by talentless hacks.
>>741792224All DA games after origins is its own thing; worth playing but don't expect any real continuity in terms of gameplay. If you want the same focus on story I'd recommend going back an playing KOTOR 1 and 2, hell, even SWTOR if you don't mind grinding to get to the story bits.
>>741786827Mystery Niggas
>>741792224Just play the bioware classics. If you don't mind spreadsheet simulation, get into kingmaker and wrath of the righteous. BG3 has palpable inspiration from DAO too.
