Anyone else play Sunset Overdrive and have any thoughts on it?
>>741792326it's pure fun
>>741792326Dialog is shit but it's fun
Its good on the first playthrough but somehow has no replayability.
>>741792326I remember enjoying it. Closest thing to JSR that i was able to get from that generation. I honestly don't remember much about it now though, but i can still hear the theme song chorus in my head from time to time.
>>741792474>>741792605It’s been years since Ive played it so my memory of it isnt great, but I dont remember the dialog being terrible. The gameplay was peak (grinding as a mechanic was great), story was fun, bosses were good. I remember the endless mode being not great. I never played the DLCs so I cant comment on them.
>>741792326Very fun gameplay. Don't remember the story at all so I assume it was meh.
>>741792326Pretty good mindless stuff
>>741792326the writing sucks but there actually isn't that much of it from what I remember. It's just all stupid and looking at the camera and winking while making internet references. Very fun though.
>>741792871Yeah, Id agree that there isn’t really any replayability there.>>741793005The sound design was peak aswell.>>741793126The story was fun imo, nothing crazy or particularly memorable but the game was focused on the gameplay rather than the narrative so that didnt really bother me. The story was basically a bunch of subplots (like those medieval larper guys or 3D printing that propeller) that culminate in killing the big bad. The characters were fun aswell.
>>741793305>>741793451True, the game was never a narrative piece though so that didnt bother me
>>741792326good silly fun with good presentationleveling up weapons was tedious as fuck though, and I think I left several just completely unpurchased
Very fun proof of concept but there's not enough meat to the game let alone content to last more than 20 hours at best, and yeah the writing is absolutely terrible and actively ruins the game, it would have been way better without any of that story shit and cringeworthy humour
still don't understand why they didn'y add a co-op campaign
>>741792326I need more games with this vibe and artstyle
>>741794048>levelling up weapons was tedious as fuckYeah true>>741794095True, there wasnt a great deal of content without DLC, the writing/humour never bothered me personally, but I didnt pay that much attention to it tbf>>741794208That wouldve been really fun if they did that.I remember think why didnt they add co-op to Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime when I played it like nearly 10 years ago Im not sure, but actually I was being a retard and not realising that it was local co-op only and not online co-op
>>741794995Is that similar gameplay to Sunset Overdrive? I havent seen it before
>>741792474>it's pure funFor a while then it gets pretty old with the same old open world shit like go here and kill this or go here and defend that. The bosses are fun though. Just don't make the same mistake i did and go for the collectibles. There's like a 1000 of them i think and will surely murder whatever fun your having with the game.
>>741795439i think i collected all the collectibles, i definitely completed all the post game quests
>>741792326I've played it years and years ago, so I'm going from not-so-fresh memory.Gameplay is cool and unique, combat is fun, the game has actual humor and jokes you can smile at, great artstyle and music. If you like fast-paced combat with the occasional base defence segment, zombies and pop culture humor (based on tropes, rather than specific media) that managed to put a smile on my face more often than not, then I can recommend the game with ease.It really gives the impression that the devs simply wanted to make a fun game.
idk what it is but something about it just made it feel so boring.i think it's that the enemies are pure fodder, you need to be braindead to lose any mission there's zero challenge
Are there any millennial writing and characters in this game????
>>741798447The enemies were pretty foddery, yeah, but I think the movement mechanics made the game still fun
>>741798637I cant remember any egregious examples of millennial writing but then again it was years ago that I played this so I may have just forgotten
>>741798690whats the point of movement mechanics if there's no depth to it
>>741792474Seconded, but with the caveat of using cheats to give yourself infinite cash and maybe infinite HP.It's a perfect game to play in the summer, because it's bright, colorful, braindead, and energetic. The only knock I'd give it is some of the 'defend the base' missions are borderline impossible on the optional versions, and all the stuff with the boy scouts in the history museum goes on way, way too fucking long. And the DLCs are kinda mid, especially the second one.
>>741798794Jump around go pew pew give me dopamine.Plus the bosses had depth
>>741799213you write like a bot trying to imitate socially needy teenage boys
>>741799136>and all the stuff with the Boy Scouts in the history museum goes on way, way too fucking long.Real, that part did drag a bit
