What should they do for a new Dead Rising?

DR1 was a masterpiece because of it's constraints, not in spite of them. The survivors were retarded when you were leading them, the controls were clunky as shit, the timer was tight and objectives dense if you wanted to save everyone, etc etc etc. The plotline wasn't anything revolutionary but it was competent and delivered with enough dramatic flare to work. The locale was great too.

DR2 felt like it was lacking in the horror themes entirely. The combo weapons were far too powerful, and the shift from using anything on-hand to killing massive hordes with combo weapons changed the whole feel of the game.
Frank was also just a much more enjoyable character, at least before they gutted him in 4. OTR was a lot of fun to me.

I don't fucking know. Shrink the map, make the day/night cycle feel more impactful. Introduce the super zombies on like, day 2 for added challenge. Frank is probably unsalvageable as a character this time so use someone new, but fuck's sake don't make him insufferable PLEASE. He doesn't have to be an ultra badass, but don't make him a pussy like Nick either.
I think the writing has already done as many conspiracies as they can reasonably fit in - the government itself is starting the outbreaks at this point. It doesn't have to be at a grand scale, narrow the scope of the story to be about one person trying to do the right thing or whatever.

Though I don't think modem Capcom can make a Dead Rising game. Especially with that "remaster" of the first one they put out. If they're too scared to offend and are removing and censoring things that shouldn't have been. then might as well fridge the series till they get the balls to make a good one.

DR2 made a lot of compromises compared to DR1. The time limit was so loose it basically didn’t exist, and survivors could walk through hordes of zombies and only rarely get grabbed. Survivors were much tankier too.

DR1 was very focused and rewarded knowledge. They basically wanted you to have a fucked up first run where a lot of survivors leave or die, and you possibly miss story beats. Then you go in on the second run with more knowledge and more stats and you actually finish. The later games basically threw the timer out and instead of planning a route and then executing it, you were free to bumble around, lollygag and still win.
