Fun fact. Therese is much sexier than her skank of a "sister".
She's still reeks of her "sisters" unwashed seed when she puts on that suit and glasses you know
>>741793228That makes it better.
>>741793067At least Jeneatte rewards you for your efforts.
Jeanette likes me though

I sided with Therese because she's more predictable and stable. I'd take a predictable bitch over someone who swings back and forth between being a bitch and being sweet any day of the week
jeanette is actually secretly pure and therese is the closet slut whose body count would make jeanette blush

Alright, fags. I finally finished the game for the first time last night. I have some thoughts. Yeah, the writing and voice acting are spot on. The atmosphere and OST are really nice.HOWEVER, having said that, this game (though "good") suffers from a problem most older titles that were excellent for their time, and that is the fact that it's aged like shit. Believe me, I've played jank, both old and current, some of it can be charming, but in the case of VtM:B, it is anything but. Honestly, if Troika had made this game with an isometric camera with first person camera for dialogue, they probably could have make the raw gameplay experience much more enjoyable.Unironically remaking this game AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to the original in terms of script would not only be the best option, but if REmakes are anything to go by, insanely successful. The questline involving the Voerman sisters is easily the best questline in the game.LaCroix is still a prissy faggot, Jack is cool and the anarchs are cringe; I'll probably take this game for another spin with the plus patch down the line, but other than that I think I'm done. I wish Strauss had more dialogue.Ps. Kill all Kue-Jin on sight.

>>741796876Nosferatu, actually. Jeanette openly fucks them, Therese does it secretly.

>>741796328I disagree, people really understimate how much the moment to moment gameplay in VTMB actually helps the atmosphere, yes, the controls are janky when it comes to punching and shooting stuff, the stealth system is hard to play with, but the fact is that the way the skill system works it allows the player to express himself through his character and the first person or at least a close third person camera allows for more immersive exploration of the environment, crawling through vents and tight space, going into areas you shouldn't be in (actual good use of liminal spaces).Gameplay isn't just combat and missing that is a reason why classics like this are never properly replicated.
What does /v/ think on the upcoming CRPG?
>>741796328Congrats, it's a solid game to play even 20 years later. There were some fan patches that restored a bunch of cut content and dialog options. Try those instead of the sequel. 2 is a toothless and formulaic game, charmless.
>>741798492>crawling through vents and tight space, going into areas you shouldn't be in (actual good use of liminal spaces). The not-AIDS mission was incredible for this. Sadly, I think a lot of people skipped it.
>This nigga wants to fuck vampires
>>741798518That's the Disco-like, correct? Amazing idea, hope they pull it off. All TTRPG video game adaptions where combat isn't the main focus should be Disco-likes; I would love a CoC Disco-like.
>>741795305I met one late as 2011. Granted she was in her 40s but still would have.
>>741798492I agree how gameplay also is tied to the fluff of RPG's, but that is not the issue here. The issue is that the very core fundamental mechanics like moving (as in walking, running, jumping, swimming) oe combat (Melee combat, Ranged combat), what we call jank; is just straight up shit. It does not play well, it detracts a lot from the experience. Sure I have the options of either talking, fighting, or sneaking my my way through situations, exactly how in an RPG I should. But if the execution of doing any of that (outside talking) is horrible, then you have a problem.Your mechanical gameplay loop has to be at least serviceable, to not make the experience a slog. Unfortunately in VTMB it is not. Especially in the current year (hence why I said specifically that this game is good, but hasn't aged well.). A good example/comparison in this regard would be the older RE titles. Like RE1, 2 and 3. Meanwhile I can give you multiple games that are either as old or even older that indeed have aged like fine wine with practically 0 issues; like Heroes of Might and Magic 3.>>741798714I played with the unofficial patch, but not the "plus" patch. As I said, I'll probably try that for a second run eventually, because I do wanna see specifically that cut content. But I don't think this game will eventually manage to squeeze like 6 or so runs outta me.Having said all this though, don't take my critique for distain, I do think the praise and the cult classic status this game has gotten is ultimately justified. And from what I've red, the people handling this IP have done fucked up massively, not realising the untapped gold mine they are sitting on.
>>741798518It doesn't look like a crpg, more like an adventure game. Already seen some cringe writing in the preview so not having any hopes for it.
>>741793067yes.
>>741798714>There were some fan patches that restored a bunch of cut content and dialog options. It also adds in a ton of custom content, there isn't really an option if you just want restored cut content unfortunately.
>>741796328people shat on the gameplay at the time, tooyou don't need to dress your post in a thousand insecure pre-emptive conditionals

>>741797634The other is dead. Therese's "sister" is just her true daddy's girl cumslut self. Choosing Jeanette is choosing the real Therese unironically. LMFAO
>>741801776I know there are a good amount of mods for this like ones adding clans, or the one which adds a Sabbat questline (and ending). But I not familiar with them.>>741802074Did they now? I wouldn't know, given it's taken 22 year for me to play this for the first time.
>>741802484I find it hilarious how retards keep going on about how VV is sooo manipulative while she's the one honest person in the entire city, including the fact she's genuinely that dumb too.A perfect encapsulation of the Toreador.
>>741802484>>741802786I thought I would find her annoying, surpringly I didn't. In fact I found her quite sweet and weirdly honest (for a kindred)

>>741802536I would like to see a vampire movie where they manage to out themselves publicly, solve the blood supply issue, leaving only the sun problem and the will to engineer solutions around it like "night cities", huge fucking urbans hubs built inside mountains, or on remote places. There's a bunch someone could do with this setting. It's just stepping a bit forward and building the "world" around that. Daybreakers did something like that back in the day.
Could a Demon: the Fallen -game work?Besides Werewolves, how do the others overlap/interact with Cainites?

>>741803450fuck you nigger
>>741803208>DaybreakersNeat worldbuilding in that film. Makes sense how a vampire society would be ruled by a blood-farming big pharma company like in a cyberpunk setting
>>741803276I only skimmed the surface of this, isn't it about leading a double life? I'm not sure how to make a game out of that, it would be just another VN.
>>741803557I'm whiter than your mulatto ass, moolie.Sent from my Galaxy Note 9 via Tapatalk.
>>741803553I guess. I just want more than the homo-lesbian-lust and who-killed-who/monster-of-the-week approach. You can do a lot with that, much more even than werewolves who can't go all out without behaving like savages and are literally incapable of scheming shit. >titlekek>>741803624Yeah. It was a very refreshing take. Perfect Creature also did something like that, albeit tone down a bit, in the sense that it's still a "post-masquerade" world.
>>741803626>I only skimmed the surface of this, isn't it about leading a double life? All WoD games are about leading a double life. Demon isn't really any different from vampire in this regard. There's demon Camarilla, demon Sabbath, demon Inconnu, demon ghouls and demon hunters. Instead of Caine, there's Lucifer, who fulfills pretty much the same role in the plot. Instead of antediluvian, there's the earthbound (except unlike antediluvian, you're expected to actually fight them).
>>741803626As >>741803998 put it.I just find WoD in general interesting. And think there is ton of untapped potential there. Shame the setting has been left to dust and to be handled by, as I gather... Idiots.

This game needs a remake badly, it was kind fun luring enemies into the rest of your team though.
>>741807980There is a fan remake or rather reimagination (due to copyright faggotry) in the works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-0DA42c1-o
>>741803208The last Underworld movie kinda did that. The second and esp. the first movie were kino as fuck, but I don't remember much from the third one.
>>741803998>All WoD games are about leading a double life.Or living as subversion or obfuscation. WoD is a solid IP and it's a shame that it gets less love than TT Cyberpunk. VtMB2 totally throws that theme out the window and has you brawling on the rooftops and taking on the whole police force before ducking into a coffee shop and it's all good and the proprietor dumps her life story on you for no good reason.
>>741793067Fun fact. Women like Therese are most likely to be weak to anal.
>>741809970>tfw my favourite settings by far are Cyberpunk, WoD and CoCIt can be a cursed existence.
>>741809679>UnderworldI wanted to do a watching-spree a few years ago over the franchise (and to watch the movies I haven't seen yet like Awakening and BW), but I went immediately to Awakening and my god what a shitty movie. Put me off entirely and I doubt Blood Wars is better, so I just stopped there
>>741798518loving the idea, looking forward to it a lot
>>741793067So, who killed who? I was left confused in the end. Did the serious sister kill the skanky sis and developed a skanky persona or was it the opposite?
>>741811095Player choice. They're Malkavian and you pick which personality wins out.Canonically Jeanette survives as she's in some expanded lore bits in the books and other media.
>>741811596I mean in their backstory. One of them was in an incestous relationship with their father, then the other discovered that the father was also banging the sister, shenanigans ensued and one killed the other. I can't quite remember how that went, but I think the serious sister killed the skanky one.
>>741811957Therese is an only child. She was raped by her father and made up the Jeanette persona after the fact as a means to cope. "I wasn't ACTUALLY raped, it was that slutty Jeanette who seduced father, I am blameless and without fault". Being embraced as a Malkavian just made the situation worse.
>>741795710I see these kinds of women on the street all the time.>>741803208So a True Blood sequel?
>>741811596>Canonically Jeanette survives as she's in some expanded lore bits in the books and other media.Jeanette specifically or "Tourette"? Because her split personality is not common knowledge and the sister specifically state that they want to keep their "secret".
>>741808187>take a CRPG and turn it into bethesda slop
>>741812629I like the theory more that both personalities arose from the trauma and embrace and we don't really know much what she was like before. People want to say Therese is the real one because she's more presentable but she's very dark and violent and has obsessions with cleanliness, she's obviously still not normal just like Jeanette.
>>741793067This is the fourth time that I'm trying to play this game but can't get arsed enough to give a fuck about it and finish it.I've never progressed past Santa Monica hub.How do you guys enjoy this buggy and unfinished mess?
>>741814225Accept that it's not for you and move on with your life.
>>741814225>buggyNothing major. I have never encountered an actual game breaking bug.>unfinishedYou didn't even play the fucking game, how would you know? You're just a fag.
>>741813971Dude. Apart from being outright stated within the game, what >>741812629 says is the case. There isn't room for theories here. Except if we were to nitpick it's reasonable to assume it isn't the rape that causes her personality to split, but that Therese suffered from DID from the begin, aggravated by her father's behavior and later her embrace by a malkavian sire.
>>741814329I suppose. The entire "World of Darkness" thing lore doesn't seem interesting.>>741814534Shut the fuck up, you /v/ermin cocksucker.
>>741814754I don't think anything in the game outright says Therese is the real original one and Jeanette is dead or fake, which is why there was debate and theories in the first place.
>>741793067she looks like she's well versed in rabbinic law
>>741815161Correct, but there is more than enough substantial and symbolic evidence for the player to make the logical conclusion anon stated above.
>>741802604completely agree, don't know why it's suddenly so popularit makes text so hard to read and somehow makes everything look insanely cluttered even when there's not much really going onit looks flashy, i guess
>>741814754Nah, the best theory by far is that Therese and Jeanette were both real and one of them survived and adopted the dead sister's personality. Most likely Therese survived cuz she though she was dad's favorite but then caught him with Jeanette and killed them both. Though it's possible Therese killed herself and Jeanette went crazy with guilt.Either way, the "american taboo" interpretation is faggy.
>>741813971>embraceThe embrace might cause mental illness, but they also mostly embrace the mentally ill in the first place.
>>741815463>symbolic evidencelol
>>741802536Haha yeah, imagine if VTMB wasn't a real game and was some ass vomit turn-based story-movie trash. haha kys
>>741814754Nope, that's you applying your own preconceptions, you assume that the Jeannete persona is faker because she's more of a caricature, but there's no logical gounds to assume that Therese's personality is exactly how she would be without the abuse happening, in fact if you give some thought to it, she's also a caricature of a real personality, the real person would be a balanced mix of both.
>>741816038calling bg3 story-movie is an insane take, it has more immsim elements and player expression than VTMB1.
>>741816275Yeah, I especially find it immersive when ultra demon evil baddies stand there in front of me and go "Oh, no please, go ahead, it's your turn to hit me". That really makes me feel like Baldurman.

>>741796328>Honestly, if Troika had made this game with an isometric camera with first person camera for dialogue, they probably could have make the raw gameplay experience much more enjoyable.the actual gameplay presentation isn't the problem, i love bloodlines but the core issue with its issues all come from the fact the game is quite literally unfinished, it actually is a game that deserves a (good) remake, but unfortunately it's stuck in licensing hell, i'm sure some day they'll make something work eventually but i wouldn't count on it
