You need at least 850 HP and it's good to have a character that can cover 1 or 2 others. Crono and Magus both have high stamina/mdef and i usually use one of them with one with has high stamina and low mdef, and another with high mdef and low stamina

Megalixirs can be stolen from Ruminators. That room where 4 Ruminators move from out the hole in the Black Omen is perfect for this.

It feels pretty basic at times but I like the positional importance. I always felt the game had this weird balance where enemy encounters are piss easy but some bosses are suddenly much harder. I'm not really familiar with it, as I've only played it once - and I got to the very end without finishing it. I just recently started a replay but with Chrono Trigger Plus.I'm really surprised Square didn't keep going with Chrono Trigger's combat design as it seemed the most logical way to move the ATB into a 1:1 overworld without battle transitions. Should have moved in that direction vs what Cross did.
