how come so many older games have so much soul and are timeless classics but all modern games are forgotten in a couple of years

You know why
I know why
“We” know why

Old games = made by actual nerds who invested a lot of time learning programming languages and honing their artistic ability out of passion
New games = made by people for whom it is just another job to slack off on, they are not stakeholders at their products and just do it for a buck. Also filled with a ton of "non-nerds" who can easily get into this industry now because nobody has to know fucking C++ anymore to make a game.

TL;DR: Fuck normies. I'd rather want the time back where people laughed at you for being on the internet or playing video games, than having these mediocre and unintelligent people around me. We had a college graduate who couldn't even fucking program anything because it was all fucking theory he learned.

Modern games are all infested by presentism, even if set in the past

Because it was made by mostly white dudes that worked 12hrs a day 7 days a week
