>>741801223I always was on the fence about Alyx. She has her moments, but imho, she was a bit too much in the episodes. I always thought of Half-Life as a bit of a lonely game, where you crawl through Black Mesa/wherever HL2 takes place, with meeting actual, real human beings (that are not hostile) as a treat and a breezer for you. Like, the shore part in HL2 really sets it asnthe Earth dying and you just go miles and miles along the shore and only sometimes see the resistance outposts. The episodes lack that feel because you have Alyx hanging around and making shitty jokes. I don't dislike it per se, the companion mechanics wete pretty cool when the episodes came out, but I think the game wouldn't lose much if Alyx was removed from the plot.That, and it feels like a really small world because all your companions and allies are from Black Mesa. You mean to tell me that all the most important leaders of the resistance are ex Black Mesa scientists? Come on. I also think they were setting her up as a sorta the chosen one/mcguffin by giving Alyx do much importance when it comes to plot.
