When did physical disc buyers no longer become worth the effort to sell to?

For PC gamers, back in 2008-2010, when they pirated everything

When the majority of consumers started just buying digital. Like here's what no one wants to hear: it's not JUST the corporations' fault that physical is dying in a ditch. But it's also not entirely the consumers' fault. It's humanity as a whole that's at fault. All throughout human history, we have always prioritized convenience and simplicity over all else. The great majority of inventions and technological breakthroughs occurred for the purpose of making our lives just a little bit easier. And what's easier than going to the store? What's more convenient than waiting for a package to arrive in the mail? Digital downloads.

This is an absolute fact of the human race and the reason we're sliding ever further and further into a dystopian hellscape where no one truly "owns" anything. As a general rule, humans are lazy good-for-nothings who will always go down the path of least resistance. Sure, there are people who still prefer the old ways, prefer physical goods, but these people will become an increasing rarity. We will always exist, but we will also always be vastly, vastly outnumbered. And the less of you there are, the less you'll be pandered to.

Truth. No companies are losing money because physical media enjoyers. 99% of people just download.

GTA VI is simply not releasing on physical media because the game didn't even reach gold yet. They just have no time to manufacture the discs and logistics after it's finally done (if they don't delay again)

I remember there being local rumours at the time of people in my area getting stabbed and their copy of GTA V stolen during the midnight launch.

Anon, the second-hand market was always a pain in the ass for publishers. Why do you think most single-player games on gen7 had multiplayer? Just to suppress reselling for some time, there was even some paid reactivation bullshit for the second account

Games are routinely are over 100 gb now and their complexity means they almost always need bugfix patches.

It's pricing more than convenience. Digital games were almost guaranteed cheaper on release than physical, that often hold the price even months or years past release.

Braindead tranny retard. And yet, you and millions of others play the same bugged, unpatched version day 1 on PC. You're so braindead

It's way too late for me to stop buying games digitally. At least I can promise myself never to pay for digital copies of books, music, movies and TV shows.
