To anyone that wants to play something more 'balanced' than what the mod is known for, in my experience the Nox Oracle class tends to be the closest thing the mod has to a 'hard mode', which is basically more in line with Vanilla difficulty.
You never really get any game rapingly strong abilities or skills beyond that which a normal magic build in ER already has access to. And some of the challenges you have to do for the class's items are actually pretty tough if you rush them.

Well you’re supposed to use the new weapons too which have ashes on par with the new spells. This mod is 100% a power fantasy though, even with the new rebalance. I mean on my first playthrough the first demigod (not forge relic holder or whatever they were called, you know) was Malenia at level 70 or so, and I did it first try because guess what? Being a gravity mage that can teleport all over the place and shoot Astel lasers and meteors with a light greatsword that has an ash buffed by Rellana’s cameo is overpowered. Like I won’t deny that base ER let you become overpowered too but there it required engaging more with statuses and buffs while Convergence devs just want you to be strong without really trying. It’s like if every build made blasphemous blade look C Tier by default, without you really trying.

Pretty much every magic class is busted as shit so go with whatever you like the aesthetic of.
Underworld mage (ice lightning) and stormcaller (wind magic) were my favorites.

It’s like a Kingdom Hearts Final Mix version of Elden Ring but with Skyrim’s alternate start mod and your character will be way more powerful than base game. The hardest part of the mod is at the start when you’re trying to get your class stuff but after that you’re basically already the Elden Lord and it’s just “go around and murder stuff” simulator. The new bosses are alright, they’re great for mod standards but none of them are even Romina or Gaius level except for the Godskin Matriarch, I guess. Oh and another that’s just basically Demon Princes 1-1, not counting that one since it’s just the same fight but with rot.

I believe the base game is the same, it’s just the dlc has been balanced more. Keep in mind the DLC scaling was absolutely putrid in the previous version, you could go to Bayle and decimate him with a +10 weapon without trying at all. Keep in mind, the mod let you make your weapons +15 with the scadu smithing stones and upgrading weapons is a lot stronger in this mod than in base because of the scaling changes as well, so it was turbo fucked.

In the last version the DLC seemed to be scaled at about Mountaintop of the Giants level.
The Haligtree was higher in scaling, from damage testing.

It made sense in that you were allowed access to the DLC far earlier. But it was not great in that with how long the game is, you're either going to blow out the power level scale for the DLC or base game, depending on which you prioritize.

Well you better have consolidated it all to one location in which I can basically speed run to, to cut down on play time, or you better have actually changed the entire experience in a good away by fixing some of the games weakest moments.

Elden Ring suffering from Open World bloat isn't even a factor, if you did this to Dark Souls I would expect some major revamps to blight town, Izailith and other places a long the way.

I don't know if this update changes it, but necromancer is almost unkillable once you get all of its spells. Its starter spell is really strong too. None of its spells are flashy but they're very powerful. If you're willing to use summons then its even easier because they synergize with them. The biggest downside is that collecting necro loot takes you to a lot of massively revamped areas and I think most of them are a worse experience than the base game.
