There are no games at all that hold up what so ever. Any of the "good" retro games always have a modern iteration that blows it out of the water. There are some rom hacks that I can play, but those are typically adding modern features onto an old platform. I enjoyed those old games in the moment as a child, but they just don't hold up to today's standards. Retro gaming is a meme.

22 year old zoomer here. It's because new games are too expensive, full of mtxs and other annoying bells and whistles like GTA6 locking content behind the premium edition. I wanted to buy Lords of the Fallen 2 too but that's $70-$80 on top of paying for the online play (PSN) to get the full experience. Pcs are too expensive now so I am stuck with a ps5. My shitty controller also has stick drifting. An official one cost almost $100. So why should I keep investing on these new shit when I can buy a handheld pc, chinkheld or buy very old consoles and pirate a bunch of games?
