>Nintendo asks you to make a game for their new 3D system
>hmm, let's take all our 3D models and make it a 2D platformer with crunchy prerendered sprites
WHAT were they thinking? This could have been an amazing 3D game, or at least graphics like Smash64. I feel robbed. I don't blame people who only see this game as ugly. This needs a remake.

Mischief Makers wasn't published by Nintendo

It's literally an n64 exclusive what are you talking about. Treasure developed it but Nintendo published it on their system.
>>
It's not ugly because of 2D vs 3D you mouthbreathing retard. It's ugly because its main artist is some kind of colorblind mutant with no hands.

I agree the colors are a bit garish, but you don't think the sprites look messy as a result of lazy pre-renders and bad n64 aliasing?

I wouldn't be opposed to actual good clean spritework drawn by hand or higher-res prerenders. But given the culture of that time, I think 3D lowpoly would have been the way to go. Gamers cared less for 2D games. I'm also just interested to see a 3D version.

Either way, I don't think harshly compressed prerendered sprites was the way to go. Personally I hated it when Donkey Kong Country did it, but some people love it apparently. But that was for SNES so it was impressive for the time I guess.

Makes sense that he'd create a plot about a guy inventing a robot to jack him off

Nintendo only published it internationally. Enix published it's initial release.

Only in America, the original Japanese release was published by Enix. This is likely why we have not gotten it on NSO because Square Enix has not been releasing any of their titles on that service.

They did a really good job with her model. Which is why I wish we could have gotten a game with it. But apparently /v/ is contrarian-central.

They were thinking "Let's make one of the coolest games ever that people will still talk about and remember fondly in 30 years except for one faggot on a mongolian basket weaving forum."

I got a summercart that I play on console. My friends love coming over every other week to play actual 4 player. I am so blessed

I played the game and enjoyed it. It's soul overload. But if you seriously think the graphical fidelity and control mapping were peak, then I'm at a loss for words. CRT doesn't make it much better, and unfortunately the res can't easily be scaled up like other n64 decomps because it uses sprites. This game looks so ass that it's heavily carried by everything else.
